MSNBC: Reid throws a rock in front of the prosecution bus.
Just now reported that nothing could happen until Congress has its own investigation. Way to slow things down, Harry. Let's get all the tushes in Congress lined up so we can measure the draperies. BTW, Harry, last time I checked Justice was a separate arm of government.

3. I respectfully
agree.

He was a reactionary pick from a scared Democratic minority.

When are we going to get a real leader in the Senate?

5. True, but it gives me knots in my stomach
every time I hear of a congressional investigation as a solution because it never is. It usually ends up being a cover-up. Remember the 9/11 Commission and the report that came out of that? Remember that investigation that Bennett headed for which we are still awaiting Part Deaux? Congressional investigations when it comes to criminal activity are usually synonymous with "obstruction."

18. I agree
In fact, everyone on DU needs to understand this formula:

Republicans + Conservative Democrats > ALL of the good Democrats

This is the make-up of our Congress, basically. Anything we try to put through Congress will have the stink of this formula all over it. And this formula only leads to right-wing policy, ineffective policy, or no policy at all.

Piss on Congress. If it is one thing that all DUers can agree on, it is that our congress has been asleep at the wheel for too long and cannot do anything at all without getting mired in political bullshit and eventual capitulation to right-wing demands.

6. There are issues...
...involving immunity that need to be hashed out first, or bad things - remember Oliver North walking? - can result.

7. I don't have faith that good things can result, given
that some of their own stand to be caught up in this.

9. Reid siding with Republicans instead of the DEM base? Wow- what a suprise.
Next they will tell me he is keeping his powder dry "for the next fight"- or that he "knows something we dont" which would also be a huge suprise.

10. Where's Franken?
There's so many things wrong in the Senate right now and getting everyone seated would do a lot to fix some of them.

12. Are y ou sure he said "could" and not "should"
I thought I heard the latter but I am not going to swear to it.

In any event, this begs the question: what does he have to hide, or in the alternative, who is he trying to protect? Just wondering.

Sam
