Barack Obama's Incovenient Encounter with America's Destiny
Great moments in history have defined our country. Now, in the earliest days of his presidency, Barack Obama must address an issue that will define us for generations with stark clarity. We will be the nation that lives up to its stated ideals and repudiates the crime of torture or we will be a nation of meaningless words and hollow statements of principle. President Obama has only one clear choice and that is to let the law prevail over any political consideration. He doesn’t have to lead the charge but he must not impede justice in any way. He should lead us calmly through this unavoidable trauma while staying above the insults and idiocy of the likely defendants. It is unfortunate that, with so much on his plate, he must deal with an inherited disgrace that cannot be honorably ignored or deferred.

1. And you and I along with a host of DUers have been
telling the naysayers that it is a delicate process that must be taken with very careful steps. All Obama has to do is facilitate the process and he is clearly doing that.

3. It is not really his responsibility but ours.
When you talk about issues that define us you are talking about us not him.
We are the ones that must not stand for this kind of behavior, and without us he will be able to do noting.
We may well need to take to the streets, but not to protest him like the tea baggers, but to oppose it ( the things that made this all possible)

4. There's a lot on his plate, but he's the guy who can handle it...
The timing works well, just after he introduced the world to the new face of America in such a beautiful way.
