Sarah Steelman forming exploratory committee for Senate run
JEFFERSON CITY — A source close to Sarah Steelman told the Political Fix today that the former state treasurer has enlisted Washington, D.C., lawyer Ben Ginsberg to form an exploratory committee for a run for U.S. Senate.

Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post’s “The Fix” blog first reported the news via his Twitter feed.

Steelman has been talking about the race for a couple of months. This week, her new Web site made its debut, and while it didn’t mention a Senate run, it referred to two social networking sites that said “Sarah Steelman for Senate.”

Steelman would face Republican Congressman Roy Blunt in a primary. Blunt announced he would run for the seat being vacated by Sen. Kit Bond shortly after Bond announced he wouldn’t seek re-election in 2010. But Blunt’s first quarter fund-raising fell far short of Democrat Robin Carnahan’s totals.

2. Shit. I thought that said Sarah Silverman.
I was like YEAH!

Seriously, Steelman looks like a solid candidate and could make MO competitive.

5. D'oh. My bad.

Highly unlikely she's a repug.

On edit: I didn't see the last line of that other post. I was still talking about the comedian; I thought you were saying Sarah Silverman is a repug. My bad.

6. she already lost a primary in a run for Governor, didn't she?
Robin looks good, although she will continue to make the Senate into a "House of Lords".
