1. he golfs, he golfs, I tells ya, he's one of them
kidding,

I hated having to learn golf for business. Most people are happy to just drink and drive the cart. Once again, Obama knows how to play the game of politics.

10. This was a mistake today
One of the questions during the press conference that declared the US to be in a state of pulbic health emregency was why he was playing golf while the conference was going on. Politically it will be made hay of. I don't care but perception means a lot.

and if he had given the press conference himself, the nation would have panicked, because Presidents don't make those sorts of announcement unless the shit is ultra serious...and let's be reasonable, the shit ain't ultra serious as of this day.

See my OP here and chill the fuck out! :eyes: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x8371915

33. I am chilled out
I think it was a public relations mistake in his people's planning. The nation would not have panicked if he had been there and I did not expect him to be there. Every medical person I know including my husband is watching this closely and it has the potential to be very serious.

48. Bull.
You're seriously underestimating the POTUS, who is no dunce.

Likely the outing was scheduled at that specific time for exactly the reason previously noted: to visibly demonstrate that there is no reason to be overly concerned. There have been no casualties in the US. Indeed, only ONE person has required hospitalization. Your "concern" is duly noted but at this point it is much ado about very little.

Likening the current administration to the previous idiots is a major FAIL on your part.

54. At the time of the briefing they hadn't happened. They may never happen.
Ya think the repukes wouldn't lambaste him later for playing Chicken Little? That's a far more probable scenario than yours is.

Napolitano herself declared the briefing standard operating procedure. You think the president should have contradicted her with his presence?

My advice: Leave the politicking to those who are far more adept at it. Oh, and stop obsessing about events that may not occur.

that is the purpose of this board, to discuss opinions. My sister is in the military and on the medical emergency response team. It is serious and has been serious and was at the time of the briefing. I think it was a misstep on whoever did his scheduling. Nothing more.

of it. If he were in front of the camera the question would be why is he trying to scare people? If he weren't golfing it would be why is he trying to hide away? It is ALWAYS something. The President is not a doctor or part of the health Care field there is nothing more that he can do that hasn't already been done and will be done as the situation warrants. He is being updated constantly and if he wants to have a few hours of relaxation so be it.

17. Had you watched the press conference you would have known that it was a preparedness alert
by Janet Napolitano, as Homeland Security did when there was a possibility of a hurricane strike. Napolitano was quite clear about the preparedness part of the declaration, she advised the press to not read more into it.

35. A mistake for a good leader to delegate, when so few facts are known?
You must be thinking of a superman, we elected a man, who deserves a day off, after 3 solid weeks of world-hopping, working with the people, working with congress, communicating well, dealing with the worst financial crisis since the depression. He's a man, not Superman, and not media star.

Get over yourself and your knee-jerk assessments of our President, unless you think FreeRepublic is where you belong.

had a career in management and dealing with priorities before I retired to find such light weight Monday morning quarterbacks with no real career behind them.

Priorities, and learning how NOT to insult people will get you a lot further than fifty thousand posts and pulling rank on the DU will ever get you. Thanks for tipping me off that I should put you on ignore.......nothing worth reading for you, other than pulling rank insults without logic, I see.

Oh, and, by the way, I never told you "where you belong", but you seem to think you can do so with me as "Mr four month member"...

I only asked you to use logical thinking, but I now see that you are now so ego inflated that you will never think logically and productively again in your life. So much for you. The Peter Principle seems to have set in.

21. All is well with the President
Personally, I believe that this is a move to show that our President is healthy and well. He spent time with the archaeologist in Mexico who died the next day. This is a way to show that our government if functioning with the proper departments doing their job. We are in a preparedness state, our CDC and others are on top of these outbreaks while he is enjoying the sunshine on a beautiful day. I, of course, always enjoy a fine picture of him in shorts.
