Nutty Survivalists now want to be called 'Preparedness' experts!
These nuts come out every few years.

Katrina set them off last time. Before that it was the year 2000 bug fiasco.

These nuts just love reasons to buy ammo and guns.

How can the dems scare anyone more than these wack jobs?

1. I don't think the dems are scaring them. I think they are afraid as a general policy.

2. we've already renamed "mercenaries" or "soldiers of fortune" to "contractors"
so, this would not be a big stretch.

4. And what was wrong with the original term
"GOON" has a certain earnest simplicity, does it not?

6. Mercenary and Soldier of Fortune have negative connotations
Contractor makes people think of the guy who builds an addition onto your house, or puts on a new roof. So, when people hear that a contractor was killed in Iraq, they think it was some poor schlub who was rebuilding a school, not a retired soldier getting paid 6 figures to guard a politician.

7. Yeah, But If You Garden.....
...you don't need all that camoflage clothing, or those really cool-looking semi-automatic rifles. I mean, what's the point, right, Jody?

8. It's not ideology-based. There's plenty of them here on DU....

Just pining away for The End Of The World, so they can chortle about how right they were. Finally.

They're really just a secular version of the End Days religious nuts.
