Peggy Noonan Is A Goddamn Drama Queen
On Fareed Zakarias GPS repeated now on CNN.

She sees *frenzy* in how Obama is reaching to do too much. She doesn't understand the medical, the banks, the this, the that. Pfui.

Americans understand, Peggy, even if you say you don't. They understand that they can't pay their medical bills. They know their jobs are evaporating. So get out of the way with your buzzing. Go read a book. Go kiss a picture of Ronnie. Shoo.

She's watched too many early Katherine Hepburn movies
And she can't pull it off. They broke that mold.

11. If you're gonna do Hepburn, you need to have Hepburn's politics:
From Wikipedia:

"At the height of the pre-McCarthy stages of the post-war Second Red Scare, Hepburn's strongly progressive social views also became a target of anti-communist hysteria. Myron Fagan, the right-wing writer, producer and director at the center of Hollywood's anti-communist witch-hunting denounced her after Hepburn had spoken up on behalf of fellow actors, directors, and screenwriters facing the notorious blacklistings of the 1940s. Despite Hepburn's lack of actual membership in (or any formal ties to) the American Communist Party, Fagan, in his polemical speech against "the Reds" in Hollywood, named Hepburn as "an example," forwarding the claim that 'Katharine Hepburn's love for Joe Stalin is no secret.'"

16. Katherine Hepburn was one of a kind.
Smart, gutsy, self effacing (never attended an Oscar presentation to receive one of her 4 Oscars) and a friend for life. Coincidentally, Friday I saw her in "Lion in Winter", for which she won one of those Oscars. The Loew's theater in Jersey City, NJ is a masterpiece of a bygone era and they are trying to bring it back little by little. I have seen on its huge screen "Gone with the Wind", "Casablanca" and many other films, including silent films (it took them 10 years, but they were able to rebuild their Wonder organ and play it right before every show). I digressed, but Ms. Peggy is no Hepburn.

Here's a link to the theater site:

14. I figured out long ago that the woman drinks.
Sometimes she is just buzzed but often she says such bizarro things that I think she is really half in the bag.

What i love to laugh at is when Morning Joe has her and Buchanan on and he talks about when he was in the Nixon White HOuse and she talks about when she was in the Reagan White House and they take this really strange walk down Memory Lane. It's like the return of the zombies. Who really cares?

8. I have an image of Peggy Noonan
curled up like a puppy at the foot of Ronnie and Nancy's bed.

"Reagan, Reagan, Reagan" - she's never been able to move on. He must have been the love of her life and she sees everything through the prism of Reagan.

I also think she's terrified that President Obama will be even more popular than Ronnie.

25. I always kinda suspected she was reagan's Monica.
Maybe not in the flesh, so to speak, but she did worship him almost to a sickening extent. Kinda like contradicta and dubya - she was and still is hopelessly in love with him. Beyond all logic and reasoning.

How is anything that Noonan bloviates about relevant to the real world?

Oh, that's right, it's not. Just background static.

18. Haha. Republicans don't like multitasking. That's so lame. The real reason they don't like it
is not because they're afraid Obama's sacrificing focus on the economy but that he's sabotaging the Republicans' ability to spin his presidency effectively, since it's all whipping by so fast.

23. "Frenzy?!"
I'd think she just wasn't used to seeing government doing things, but the past administration were in a "frenzy" to wreak as much damage as possible, selling it on hair-on-fire fear of terra. That's pretty frenzied.

But mainly, I don't see how you can look at Obama and say "frenzy." He is so clearly in control of himself, all the time. Very thoughtful. No hint of "frenzy!"
