If Republicans want to be a power again, they are going to have to return to their true core values...jettison all the "wedge issue" crap, because we've finally evolved enough as a society that the "wedge issues" are wedging THEM apart. Also, other more pressing matters are on the table, thanks to the fact that we tried 30 years of doing the economy and the government their way and it has failed miserably. That's something they can't jettison. If they still want to be the party of personal responsibility and small government, they have to send a different message: maybe "small government that gets more done more quickly that can't be done by anyone BUT government" and "personal responsibility as much as you can take on, so that more resources are available for those who truly cannot care for themselves."

We need younger people, more education of people through ads and internet, a younger face, and a positive attitude.

So far, we are batting zero on these things. I am not one to despair, but I am a realist.

Conservative issues do NOT always win, especially if we let the other side present us as bitter losers who don't care about the poor, the sick, etc.
