A Teleprompter? Is that all they have? A fucking teleprompter?
RNC Pulled Video Of Mock-Obama Criticizing Troops, Thanking Ayers

Marking Barack Obama's 100th day in office, the Republican National Committee published a video that uses an Obama impersonator to mock the president as beholden to a teleprompter and a hypocrite on a range of policy issues.

The web ad, which has an off-sounding Obama voice commenting over footage of the inaugural address, was briefly posted on the RNC's YouTube page on Wednesday. But shortly after its release, the spot was unceremoniously removed from the site.

After a request for comment, RNC spokesman Trevor Francis said the committee planned on releasing a new version of the video with better editing and citations. He said the updated version will likely come out later today.

The early, unreleased version of the video shows the faux-president pledging to increase spending and hand the census over to ACORN, as well as celebrating a Treasury Secretary who failed to pay his taxes. There is even a shot at Obama for his association with former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers, with the president thanking "Professor Ayers" for clapping after he pledged to put together "a report that characterizes our returning service members... as people who may become terrorists."

"100 days ago, a man read a grand speech from a TelePrompter," the text at the beginning of the RNC spot reads. "What if the Teleprompter had accidentally switched to reality-mode?"

1. He did damned well last night at the press conference. No teleprompter there!
He's just slower and more thoughtful without it, though just as brilliant. It would be hypocritical to insert pauses of thoughtfulness when reading a prepared speech.

2. They just don't get it. The public wants a President that is sure of himself
communicates the information to the public and doesn't make crass remarks

3. As screwed up as the Republican Party is right now, I'd think they'd have better things
to spend their time and money on than this.

If they want to make a mockery of something, they have very real issues with Michelle Bachmann, Norm Coleman, Jim Inhofe, Tom Coburn, the Bush Administration's history of torture, their huge losses in 2006 and 2008, Michael Steele, Rush Limpballs, etc.

Really...is this the best they've got? (Unfortunately for them, it is...even their own polling shows people prefer Democrats in almost every area questioned. RIP, GOP, you only have yourselves to blame.)

5. Freakin' awesome
Mock the guy with a tremendous approval rating, which includes a number of folks who don't like his policies but think he's a smart m-f'er.

Yea, mock the guy 60+% of the nation supports.

That's the ticket.

Keep it up, GOP. Really. No, really. Please. Keep it up. I enjoy seeing your party become more of a laughingstock every single day with this crap.

8. It goes right back to what Maher said
"Here are the big issues for normal people: the war, the economy, the environment, mending fences with our enemies and allies, and the rule of law.

And here's the list of Republican obsessions since President Obama took office: that his birth certificate is supposedly fake, he uses a teleprompter too much, he bowed to a Saudi guy, Europeans like him, he gives inappropriate gifts, his wife shamelessly flaunts her upper arms, and he shook hands with Hugo Chavez and slipped him the nuclear launch codes.

Do these sound like the concerns of a healthy, vibrant political party?"

It is apparent that certain folks from both sides of the aisle are suffering from terminal cases of sore loserdom.

...as opposed to Bush, who sounded barely post-anaesthesia.

I guess if they can't say the real Obama hates the troops they have to dress a fake one up in a suit and make him say it.

25. I hate to give the secret away.

Just find anything a national Republican is saying and take it up one degree, substitute another similar noun, add another degree and change the noun.

It always works, always funny. Other than that I got nothing.

24. I never saw Reagan speak without reaching into his pocket for his 3x5 cards.
I mean every time the man spoke, on even the simplest occasions, he would stride up to the podium and reach into his inner jacket pocket for the cards. I saw this happen dozens of times. Apparently his entire presidency was basically programmed for him on 3x5 cards telling him what to say and do. Those old enough will recall this.

What is the exact difference between that and Obama using a teleprompter? Or is it another case where we are supposed to ignore what we see and know in favor of right-wing talking points?

:eyes:

didn't have close to 3 hours of him answering questions off the top of his head. those are more impressive and revealing than whether or not he chooses to read his PREPARED remarks by looking down at notes on the podium or looking into the eyes of the television viewer via a prompter.

and also if 100% of his speeches were with the prompter, i could sorta get it, but cbs had an interesting factoid.

Speeches: 115 (at least 47 using a Teleprompter)

http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/04/29/politics/politicalhotsheet/entry4977321.shtml

that's 41%

are they mad that he uses a phone instead of sending letters too? sheesh.
