Remember how Coolidge's image went through a renaissance of sorts under Reagan?

Since he was the small government conservative that Reagan often idolized (even though it was his laissez-faire views on the economy that really led to the Great Depression at the end of the 20s).

Well will FDR be to Obama as Coolidge was to Reagan? I don't ever recall Roosevelt being discussed by so many people in my lifetime.

With the Republicans (Bachmann) trying to tarnish his reputation, I wonder what type of imagine will come out of this, specifically if Obama employs Roosevelt's similar approaches when it came to talking with the American people.

We'll see, I guess, but it will be interesting to see if Roosevelt will remain relevant after all those years.

1. FDR already has a good reputation

The righties are trying to tarnish Obama's name by comparing him to Carter. What I'd love is for that to backfire on them and lead to Carter's reputation being rehabilitated from the propaganda of the Reagan legacy project. That's not a prediction, though, just a bit of wishful thinking.

However, in those stupid opinion polls asking Americans who the greatest presidents are, Roosevelt had been trailing off since the generation most associated with him is dying off.

Maybe this will put back up toward the top again with the likes of Kennedy, Reagan and Clinton.

And the Repubs have been pushing the meme that FDR sucked for the past nine months. Try to find someone who went through the Depression to say a bad thing about him.

4. That's the problem right there...

Many who lived through the Depression are dying off. My grandparents went in 2002 and 2003 and in a decade, most of that generation will be gone. This is how the Republicans can manipulate his image to fit their liking. We mustn't let this happen.
