How did Specter vote on Clinton's Judicial Nominations?
I want to know because Im trying to imagine how Specter would vote on Obama's nominations, if he sticks with his new party, or bucks us yet again. This one will be big for me and my feelings about Arlen.

1. Specter will vote in a way that's beneficial to Specter.
We haven't had a vote come up yet where Specter's vote would have changed something. If something was going to fail, it would have failed w/ or w/o his vote. If something was going to pass, it would have passed w/ or w/o his vote.

If he *again* fucks us over when his vote is needed, that will tell us what we need to know, IMHO.

3. Employee Free Choice will be the real test...
...and he probably knows it...he won't win the Dem primary without supporting it.

5. He *has to* know it.
If there were one state in the union that supported EFCA it would have to be PA.

4. He voted yes for Breyer and Ginsburg, yes for Thomas, Alito, and Roberts, no on Bork

I think he voted for Souter, Kennedy, O'Conner and Scalia but the database does not go back that far.
He seems to rarely vote against a nominee from either party. Bork was the exception.

7. Put up a qualified justice, whatever their positions on the issue may be and he'll vote in favor.
Sounds like what to expect from Specter.

11. That sounds about right.
I think he's in the "the president should get his way with nominations unless they're really egregious" camp.

That sentiment seems to be common in the Senate.

12. Bork ws qualified- but ws simply an off the deep end extremist
Alito was not qualified, because after stating in his initial confirmation hearings that he'd recuse himself from cases involving a certain party where he had conflicts of interest- he nevertheless ruled in favor of that party in a case that came before him.

Every vote for Alito was a vote for a demonstrably unethical judge.

9. If he votes against this Supreme Court Justice. He's going to get a serious
primary challenge. And I can't imagine Obama supporting him in a primary. Judicial Picks are where you better show your loyalty
