I don't think Palin is the future of the GOP, Republican (Bill Bennett) says
from CNN:

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Prominent Republican Bill Bennett took issue Sunday with what he called the “media’s focus” on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Asked about the Republican Party’s increasingly public struggle to define itself and identify new leaders after eight years of the George W. Bush administration, Bennett said the press should be less myopic in its coverage of the GOP.

...snip...

“You don’t think Gov. Palin’s the future of the Republican Party?” queried CNN Chief National Correspondent John King.

“I do not,” said Bennett. “It could talk about a Paul Ryan or a Mike Pence. It could talk about a Bobby Jindal. It could talk even about a John Kyl or a David Petraeus. You know, there’s a lot of talent in this party.”

How long is it going to take for him to backtrack?

1. It's a shame that Bennett is on television to begin with. At the same time,
it's interesting that a Reagan-era "luminary" like Bill Bennett is publicly subverting Sarah Palin's role as "rising star."

I'm using the quotation marks because I'm not sensing the "talent" Bennett references in the GOP.

Mike Pence? My god.

3. Yep. I have the feeling that Jindal is a smart guy but one who joined the
wrong movement.

The Republican Party is struggling these days, including struggling for leadership. He seems to be suggesting himself as that leader. I just don't think anybody's buyin' it.

4. There is a whole lot about Jindal that won't play to a real
audience (as his response to Obama reflected).

5. Agree. I didn't sense any capacity to inspire in his delivery.
It felt stilted and poorly written.

Not a good start for the next leader of the Republican Party.

9. I would say Jindal is a Republican nerd but I don't want to insult the geeks I respect
Without the geeks we wouldn't be as advanced scientifically and electronically as we are. He's got that moist lipped weak smile of the whimpering suck-up to the bully and his entire body language screams 'please don't hit me'.

In a world where image means something his is bereft of anything that impresses the eye.

11. Hi, lunatica. I'm with you on the "nerds." They have been true
circuit-breakers for me, plus they seem to always suggest a very good mind doing genuinely interesting things.

Jindal may have more true smarts than that response speech to Obama indicated, for all I know. But he does seem to be betting on the wrong horse. The GOP needs someone to be the captain of the ship. Right now no one seems all that interested in the job, except people who are demonstrably insane, like Steele and Romney and Palin.

Them folks are in a heap'a trouble.

6. Now Rush won't know what to attack tomorrow!
Does he go after Wanda Sykes or Bill Bennett?! 'Cause I think this time he's gonna get some resistance from either one and/or both. I can't even imagine Bill Bennett grovelling to anyone no matter how wrong he is. And Wanda, well I think she's just waiting for a real chance at Limpy.

12. For years limpbaughs
was just sitting back hatin' on America and he "was just an entertainer" and now? People are calling him on it and exposing him for the enemy to America that he is.

I loved it when President Obama told the repukes not to listen to him if they wanted to get anything done. So many were saying he shouldn't get in to it with limpbaugh but look at it now. Exposed as the head of the republicon party..the party of NO.

Wanda Sykes joked he was the 20th Hijacker but he was too doped on Oxycotin to make it.

Who's the entertainer now?

...much less the GOP.
