I haven't had much time to sit down and actually watch this thing. I'm glad I did, because I forgot so much of what actually happened on that day.

The DVD covers the Obamas' first appearance (when they went to church), their meeting with the Bushes, the journey from the White House to the capitol and then of course the inauguration itself.

Some notes...

- What is the deal between Pres. Carter and Pres. Clinton? When Carter came down the hallway, he stopped and greeted Pres. Bush Senior and Barbra Bush (giving her a kiss), but completely ignored Pres. Clinton and, along with Mrs. Carter, continued on down the hall.

- You can tell the Clintons and Bushes are extremely close. When Barbra and Pres. Clinton hugged, it felt really genuine. I don't know what to make of this, but I don't really dislike either Pres. Bush Senior or his wife, at least when you compare it to my disdain for their son.

- Bush Senior was hobbled, but Barbra Bush is still pretty quick. As he, Hillary and Pres. Clinton slowly walked down the hall, Barbra Bush was already gone -- I think talking to the Carters.

- Dan Quayle. Ha.

- Al and Tipper look really good. I wonder what they were thinking more than anything. This was their third inauguration since the 2000 election and all three must have been hard.

- During the events, Bush looked bored, Laura looked proud and Cheney, well he looked mean.

- At the end, Carter was wearing a funky hat and sunglasses, while Bush Senior looked like he was in Russia.

- It really was remarkable how many people showed up. On the DVD, they have videos of past inaugurations and compared to Clinton in 1992, 1996 and the past two for Bush, well let's just say you can't compare. It's not even close.

All in all, it's a pretty good DVD. It was nice to watch it all over again.

1. Carter 'Snubs' Clinton?
January 20, 2009 11:54 AM

ABC News' David Wright reports: Today may be a day when the nation briefly sets aside partisan enmity for the peaceful transition of power, but personal enmity? That’s another matter.

One small example: as the ex-Presidents gathered in the crypt of the Capitol preparing to head out to the platform, a chilly day got a bit chillier as the Carters and the Clintons were forced to occupy the same cramped space.

Former Democratic President Jimmy Carter appeared to greet former Republican President George H.W. Bush and his wife warmly, kissing Barbara Bush on the cheek. But as Carter passed fellow Democrats Bill and Hillary Clinton, the two men did not appear to acknowledge each others presence at all.

President Carter disputes there was any snub and says any suggestion there was is “erroneous.” Through a spokesperson at the Carter Center in Atlanta, the former President told ABC News that he had earlier spent a half hour talking to the Clintons and therefore wanted to use the opportunity to say hello to the Bushes while he could. According to the spokesperson, cameras only caught the later encounter.

5. Oh and BTW, it was LATE XMAS gift...
I had asked for someone to get it for me when it came out.

Well not this, but a DVD on the inauguration.

So, yeah. :P

6. The Carters and Clintons had already spent time together beforehand, off-camera...
So says Jimmy Carter, and who are you going to believe: the troublemaking MSM or President Carter?

Glad you have the DVD -- that day was awesome.

7. lol @ "Cheney looked mean..."
Him going out like that mean old man on "Its A Wonderful Life' will always be one of the best parts of that day.

I'd also recommend the CSPAN DVD as well if it's still available.
