Looks like I am going to be on Fox News again on Monday (Memorial Day)
Topic TBA. As soon as I know the topic, my fellow DUers will hear it here. My opponent will once again be Stuart Varney. You guys know what happened the last time. If I can quote Michael Buffer:

"LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!!"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W1Qpw8rSnE&feature=related

Bring it on!!!!!!

3. I think the reviews of my last two appearances were very good
so they are looking to have me on pretty regularly. I basically told them I will debate anyone, anytime on any subject. I believe I also used the words, Bring It On. ;-)

Right now, it is all to fight the good fight. I certainly would be open to the idea, assuming they were willing to let me be me.

7. To forestall that possibility, I made sure I mentioned that I am former USAF
While it would have made for an interesting gotcha moment to bring that out as a surprise if my patriotism were questioned, I would rather discuss other things than that.

18. ALERT: The Topic is going to be the signs that the administration is posting regarding the stimulus
The Obama administration is posting signs locally that tell people about what their stimulus money is being spent on locally. They are going to have a right wing radio talk show host from Tennessee and Stuart Varney against me in the segment.

any thoughts?

21. Mike Slater is my opponent
I will be debating Mike Slater (Radio Talk Show host out of Tennessee).
The topic for today is that the Gov't is putting up signs at locations where stimulus projects are going on to make people aware that the project is a stimulus funded project.
See link: http://michellemalkin.com/2009/05/19/stop-spending-my-money-on-porkulus-road-signs/

26. About that link. A small logo does not constitute "taking full credit" for the funding.
These sorts of signs are everywhere with public works projects. The sign would exist regardless, a sticker with the jobs program logo is not hurting anyone and is letting people know that it helped.

They can always go to recovery.gov and see the full breakdown.

27. Even the big sign is made with a can of spray paint, mock that they're outraged over a $1 can of...
...spray paint. Remind them that these signs cost pennies compared to the total stimulus funding.

30. Wow that's a ridiculous topic
deceptively stupid.
All you have to say is that the agencies are REQUIRED to communicate to the public how they're spending the recovery money..

Here's the OMB's 175 page memo including guidance on reporting how the money is spent (reporting, pages 12-29)....
http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/assets/memoranda_fy2009/m09-15.pdf

I don't know how much they're going to refer to the link you gave, but here's a page related to that malkin post,
https://www.cfda.gov/index?s=program&mode=form&tab=step1&id=3aa4ef9688d55644ca097e393fb331d9
which is evidence that Malkin doesn't know how to use the internet.
here's Minnesota local projects, found it in about 4 clicks http://www.dot.state.mn.us/federalrecovery/lists/greater-mn-stateaid-projects.pdf

The fact that michelle malkin or whoever couldn't read the internet right proves the point that the public sign was a judicious way to meet the spirit of transparency and *accountability* to the public that's built into the recovery act.
Recovery.gov has the information malkin was looking for, and the site has easy-to-find links to state government websites to track spending.
http://www.recovery.gov/?q=content/state-recovery-page

http://www.mmb.state.mn.us/recovery or http://www.dot.state.mn.us/federalrecovery .. eh... harder to remember at 60 mph.
Many many project details.

Be familiar with ARRA funds from Tennessee...
https://www.cfda.gov/index?s=program&mode=form&tab=step1&id=3aa4ef9688d55644ca097e393fb331d9

Last, I would use acronyms like CDBG, CAP, CPP things like that, keep the host on his toes.

http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=OWVmNTUwMmEwNzMwNGU1NDM5NTNlYmJhNTVkNDM5NmU=

Obama can explain to regular people where their money is going, Bush couldn't and we don't even know where that money went.

Or, a 1/4 low functioning brain combined versus one fully functioning brain...I think you'll be fine considering your last appearance. ONe thing I hate with these guys is they talk over people, especially when they have a very strong solid point, which is most of the time.

37. Americans aren't fools; they like to know where their tax dollars go.
Edited on Mon May-25-09 01:53 PM by grasswire
Here's what you say:

Hard-working Americans want to know where their money goes. Americans want transparency. And they are already mad about the billions of dollars that vanished in Iraq corruption under Bush-Cheney, and the trillions that the Wall Street bankers can't explain.

Americans have to pay a share of expenditures every year on April 15. Why shouldn't the government tell taxpayers where the money went? Openness and accountability seem like fiscal conservatism to me!
