Will Feinstein sink or swim in Calif.?
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) continues to hold the door open to a run for governor in 2010 and said this week that her political future hinges largely on her assessment of other gubernatorial candidates’ plans to address California’s budget crisis.

If she views their plans as insufficient, Feinstein said she “might” mount a bid for the governorship, a move that would instantly transform the race and send shock waves through the Senate.

“California is in serious jeopardy,” said Feinstein, who was first elected to the Senate in 1992. “So I don’t think anybody should become the next governor of the state of California without a specific plan to solve the problem.”

Asked whether it was fair to assume that given her powerful Senate committee posts — including her chairmanship of the intelligence committee — she may decline to mount a bid, she said: “I think it is a fair assessment in that I’ve got a big agenda and a lot of work here, and I take it very seriously, particularly the chairmanship of intelligence at what is a very difficult time.”

1. I'd rather have her as governor
And put a real Democrat in her seat in the Senate.

3. If she announced she was running
watch how quickly the field would narrow.

She would get to pick her replacement

Personally, I would be happy with her as governor and Jerry Brown filling the seat for 2 years.

5. Anything to get her worthless ass out of the Senate
The state of CA is so fucked up now, she can't make it much worse.

I'd rather she just retired and spent the rest of her life counting the bazillions of dollars she made off the wars of the cheney administration.

But if she won't do that being governor is the best place for her.

It's a cinch no republican will be elected here for a long time.

6. If Feinstein runs for Governor and loses, she would what -- keep the
Senate seat? -- and if she won, would Arnold or a new governor choose her replacement, or would it be decided by special election?
