It gives into the notion that 1 man or 1 admin. can keep a country safe. Things happen that u can't control sometimes.

2. Not to be a spelling nazi, but it's 'bear'.
Wouldn't want anyone to think he's exposing his responsibility. :P

going around as the torture advocates, emboldening the enemy, just begging to bring it on.

But, you can be guaranteed Prez Obama will be micro-managing any clues like bush had with the August 6, 2001 Memo before 9/11.

8. We sure held Bush responsible
when he failed to heed warnings about 9/11 and Katrina.

Yes, the President is responsible for keeping the country safe. Somebody has to be.

9. Technically, he's correct
That responsibility lies with the Commander-in-Chief. However, that's not to say that others have important roles, but it's like Harry Truman said, 'the buck stops here.'

14. Can you think of any President that really has done great with the constitution?
I really can't. Some have done better than others. Most of those that did better than others weren't serving during a time of war.

20. Yup Lincoln and FDR were pretty bad with the constitution
Thomas Jefferson was great with it. So long as the constitution doesn't apply to blacks, Native Americans, and women.

13. Really? I LOVED it

He was smacking down Cheney and all of the blabbermouths who do nothing but talk while having no responsibility for anything.

He was reminding Cheney that, not only is he a big nobody now, but that, no matter how big he talks, he was NEVER Commander-in-Chief - in other words, "Not only do I outrank you now, MF, I hold a position that you NEVER had. So STFU."

It reminded me of the climax of the movie "American President," in which Michael Douglas' character said, "I'm Andrew Shephard and I AM the President of the United States!"

Yes, I know this is serious stuff and not a movie. But it felt good to see my President stare down his disingenuous, petty and hateful critics, not with the obnoxious swagger of his predecessor, but with a steely determination and full confidence in the role he has taken on.
