Why try to shut up Cheney?
If he is tanking his own cause, shouldn't we be rooting for him to keep talking?

he's pulling a train of pundits along with him. let him keep yacking. blah blah blah. while he was in office, we never heard him speak. this is too juicy.

2. People are so sick of the pathological liar,
they want him to shut up. But it's best to let him spin his yarn and get caught up in it, which he already did.

Keep talking, Dick. Same goes for Karen Hughes.

Oh, and I can't wait for Junior to get dragged into the torture defense arena.

4. Right
So, why is everyone telling Cheney to shut up, if he is lying?

Cheney does not look scared, intimidated, etc, at all to me. He looks energized and on-point. A person who can hold his own in any arena. He is an American citizen, let him speak, and if he sinks himself, so be it.

6. Cheney has made a career out of being a successful intimidator.
He gets a kick out of putting the fear of death into whoever he's dealing with.

But eventually he got caught in a big net of lies re: WE Don't Torture. And like almost all liars, he feels compelled to explain why he could not possibly have lied in the first place, which requires him to lie even more.

The very fact that this man is talking so much tells me he's in a state of psychological agitation. He's in the grip of an uncertainty so unfamiliar to him that it makes him take unusual risks in order to save his own hide.

I think Cheney is fighting for his credibility as a major threat to the country and to Obama.

7. LOL
Cheney is not scared, Obama is. Take a look at the speeches again, from an objective standpoint.

Cheney is on familiar turf, after 8 years (and decades). Obama is the newbie, trying to find his way.

Obama picked his speech to coincide with Cheney's long-planned speech, not the other way around.

8. The implication here is that your view is the only objective standpoint.
Need I say more?

10. Dumbest post of the day
Obama is the one who is scared? The guy who didn't break the law and torture folks is the one who is scared? Lawd. Didn't expect to find Cheney apologists on this board as well.

18. Cheney is digging a hole
When Eric Holder appoints his first special prosecutor, Dick Cheney's lies will come back to haunt him.

5. I guess I have to agree. As much as he annoys me, he is making his own arguments look
more and more deranged and pathetic.

who are we to stop him?

His children are the only ones coming to his defense, he is as weak as can be. Let us pray that the majority of American's will see that this man deserves to be in jail.

17. He is attempting limited hangout. He is admitting to the crime
of torture (via justifications), believing he/they won't be punished. It's to deflect interest away from the far worse things they are involved in/authorized.

19. Because to a certain extent he is controlling the agenda
Cheney isn't personally popular but his fearmongering is having an effect. Obama can't even close a fucking prison at Guantanamo and move the inmates to a supermax in the United States because Congresscritters think their constituents are convinced that these people have mutant powers and would be able to escape.
