e.g., if you liked the FY 2010 Budget or the Rose Garden swing set, you can name that.

For instance, looks like the military tribunals will be kept in place - that's a bit different from what many thought they understood would happen.

I no longer have to remove my shoes or any hard object from the coffee table. But I have taken to screaming and pulling my hair out.

I thought it was safe to take my copies of the Constitution, DOI, and the Bill of Rights and hang them back up, but that little thing he mentioned about indefinante detention pior to trial-out side the legal system had me putting them back in the closet. Some day those little heirloom antiques will be worth some money-maybe sooner than I thought.

17. He signed into law the largest investment in green energy in U.S. history.
Edited on Fri May-22-09 02:44 PM by ContinentalOp
"1. Obama began the process of blocking the vast majority of new coal plants...
2. He began the process of dramatically increasing the efficiency of our vehicles, by ordering EPA to quickly give California and a dozen other states the right to put in place tough emissions requirements for tailpipe emissions of greenhouse gases — and by ordering the Department of Transportation to quickly issue and phase-in tougher fuel economy standards to comply with the 2007 Energy Bill, the first overhaul of the nation’s fuel efficiency standards in over three decades.
5. He signed into law the tax credits needed to achieve his ambitious goal of 1 million plug-in hybrids by 2015
6. He signed into law a massive investment in mass transit and train travel -- and laid out an aggressive vision for a high-speed rail network....
7. He signed into law the tax credits needed meet his ambitious goal of doubling renewables in his first term
8. He signed into law the funding needed to jumpstart a 21st smart grid that is critical to enable the renewable energy, energy efficiency, and plug-in hybrid revolution.
9. He signed into law the single biggest investment in the deployment of energy-efficient technology in U.S. history, along with strong incentives for state governments to fix their inefficiency-promoting utility regulations.
10. For the first time in three decades, he more than doubled the annual budget for advanced energy efficiency, renewable energy, and low carbon technology...
11. He put forward, the first sustainable budget in U.S. history, one that invests in clean energy, included cap-and-trade revenue, and seeks repeal of fossil industry subsidies."

25. Wow, I did not know there was a secretary of the American Battle Monuments Commission.
From your link.

The appointment would mark a return to federal service for Cleland, a wounded Vietnam veteran who currently lives in Atlanta. He served as head of the Veterans Administration during the Carter administration, then was elected to a single term in the U.S. Senate in 1996.

From 2003 to 2007, he served on the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States.

Cleland, a triple amputee, was active in the 2004 Democratic presidential campaign of John Kerry, a fellow Vietnam veteran.

Interesting, I learned something new.

32. Attitudes to the U.S. (in Europe, at least) have improved dramatically...
...since he became President. Of course full judgement will be reserved until people see what happens in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine, etc, but the change in that attitude is already remarkable. In my part of the world, at least, he is respected and admired, not least for his conciliatory tone towards erstwhile 'enemies' and for the absence of the arrogance and ignorance displayed by Bush. It's a beautiful change.

because although it seems trivial, it actually has increased vegetable gardening in this country like nothing else has!

Farms Race: The Obama's White House Garden Has Given Fire to an International Movement
When Michelle Obama broke ground for her 1,100-square-foot garden on the White House lawn, the shock waves were felt around the world.

On her recent trip overseas, most of the press focused on the first lady's fashion statements. But world leaders, she said upon her return, wanted to discuss the statement her garden was making.

"Every single person from Prince Charles on down, they were excited we were planting this garden," Obama told the fifth-grade students who helped her seed it.

Reactions at home have run the gamut, from elation in foodie circles to Big Ag's revulsion at the garden's organic status. Meanwhile, the first garden has spurred a race among the gardening faithful to plant flags on other high-profile plots and lay claim to various other gardening firsts, like so many first ascents up mountaintops.
