Diane Feinstein Pulls Support for Employee Free Choice Act
Anyone surprised?

"Feinstein, a major proponent of the Employee Free Choice Act, broke national news when she told the local delegation that she is withdrawing her support. Feinstein, a major proponent of the Employee Free Choice Act, broke national news when she told the local delegation that she is withdrawing her support. “She will not vote for the bill, and she will not support any modification allowing the process to bypass secret ballots, and she believes that now is not the right time for this type of legislation given the downturn in the economy,” said John Shaffery, a local lawyer and vice president for the SCV Chamber Board of Directors, who was in the meeting."

4. My email to the Senator.
It has just been reported that the Senator is withdrawing her support for the Employees Free Choice Act. I hope this is an error in reporting.

How nice that a Democratic Senator is turning her back on Organized Labor. Please note the word "Organized." We are organized and we are mad.

Each time the Senator runs in a primary, I always vote for her opponent, as it is clear to me that the Senator is a weak example of a good Democrat. And, in the general, I always hold my nose and vote for her, as we need the Senate filled with Democrats, not Republicans. However, with this lack of support, it seems that we have a Republican in Senator Feinstein. What a surprise. She's always been a DINO, and this is just one more example.

Way to go, Senator Feinstein. Way to support America's working families. Way to display those strong Democratic values.

Disappointed once again,

5. California Voters Pull Support for Diane Feinstein
“We will not vote for her if she will not support EFCA, and if she believes that now is not the right time for this type of legislation given the downturn in the economy, she is dumber than a box of rocks.”

12. I am surprised she had the gall to stick that one foot into the boat.
Anybody that had a clue about her would have known she was going to jump right back out when the moment seemed right.
I hope she runs for governor and fails to get the nod from the party. Political justice every once in while can be sweet too :-)

7. Big Money is ffighting EFCA hard, and the White House is not pushing back,
as far as we can see, so she will probably be one of many to turn tail and run.

If we are going to make any real, lasting change for working people in this country, we need a labor movement again. EFCA is as important any any other issue right now, and now one who can move it is lifting a finger.

8. YAWN. Blame Obama any chance you get. Nothing is stopping Congress
from bringing it to the floor for debate or vote.

9. Yes, something is stopping Congress: no leaders.
That's an abiding problem in this party as a whole, not only in the legislature. No one is willing to risk pissing off any interest group that might give them some money later.

EFCA is absolutely essential to restoring some power to workers in this country, and it is going to die--along with the middle class.

My grandfather believed that two institutions had made it possible for him to have as decent a life as he had managed to have: the Democratic Party and the United Mine Workers. I don't think he would recognize the former if he were alive today.

Now would you like to comment on the matter at hand, or do you just want to continue your usual childish sniping?

11. Difi, you wretch!
I would like to proudly note that the one time I voted against a sitting Democrat it was the last time DiFi was on my ballot. The Green got my vote, Benjamin for Senate as I recall.
DiFi had my vote in the past, but she got it by hiding behind far better men and women, from Mayor Moscone to Barbara Boxer.
And now, this.

This isn't really news to me. And it wasn't a surprise back then, either.

18. This sort of thing helps maintain the right-wing stereotype that Democrats are...
Sissies and cowards, lily livered weaklings who are incapable of breathing for themselves, people who will always bow to pressure. At least Republicans stick to their "morals", regardless of how faulty / diseased they are.
