Obama will announce the suspension and/or repeal of DADT on Monday, with all of the GLBT leaders around him. Just a feeling I had when I saw Rachel talking to LTCol Federbach (sp?) tonight about him going to the WH on Monday.

Disclaimer - although I live and work in the Washington DC area, I have NO inside information. Period. Just a feeling that Obama is gonna do something big to commemorate Stonewall.

Obama has previously expressed a desire to repeal it outright rather than just temporarily suspend it. He could conceivably ask Congress to pass HR 1283.

18. He cannot *announce* the suspension and/or repeal of DADT

unless he has an actual bill to sign (has one passed Congress yet?) He can call for Congress to SEND him a bill repealing DADT (and maybe/hopefully he will make a strong statement in support of it on Monday) but he can't just magically repeal it (unfortunately).
