Pat Buchanon said clearly what the GOP senators were all thinking.
He said clearly what they were tiptoeing around all week. That is why Rachel had him on tonight. He stated it all very clearly: the totally racist way they see things that they don't even understand is racist, their aggrieved sense of entitlement, their inability to understand the world from anyone else's perspective. I have been horrified by their casual, unconscious racism all week. pat just put it in bold relief.

2. I'm beyond disgusted with these hideous white-ass racist pigs.
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 09:30 PM by liberalmuse
And no, I'm not a racist, but I'm ashamed of people of my own race behaving so badly. OMG, Justice Sotomayer has more character and integrity in her smallest fart than the entire lot of them will ever hope to have. This entire sideshow has been absolutely appalling to watch.

21. There was something positive in it though.
There are more white men on that committee who were able to see Judge Sotomayer for the person she is and the accomplishments she has made. They treated her with dignity and respect and did not belittle her or treat her condescendingly in any way. That is progress in and of itself from just a decade ago.

The racists/sexists overtly exposed who they are. No more pretending to be civil as the venom oozed from their lips. At the same time, the majority of the white men stepped down from their socially bestowed "birthright" pedestals non intimidated by those who continued to cling to bigotry.

Strange as it seems, I thought the event was rather heartening both because it exposed the bigots for what they are and in that it was a shining example how to treat people of other races and genders with the respect and dignity they deserve.

3. Yes he did!

What I also took away from it is that ole Pat believes that white men cannot compete on an even playing field with women and minorities. (Not my view but Pats.) He also believes that only white men contributed to building this country and fought the various wars this country has been involved in.

Pat should have shut up when he had the chance too. Rachal drew his dumb ass out and let him serve himself up on a platter.

Rachal go home and have a drink girl you deserve it!

5. Exactly. She got him to reveal the whole sordid thing
I do wish Rachel had known to correct Pat on one incorrect point he made when he said that Sotomayor did not excel at school. She was first in her class at Cardinal Spellman high school.

Another interesting point here: Cheney was on a football scholarship at Yale, but he couldn't keep up his grades so he had to leave the school. Yes, he was kicked out of Yale and had to go back to U of Wyoming.

16. He's a true believer. He's not saying racist and sexist things to
play to his base or get elected to anything. He actually believes in the superiority of white males and can't see what's wrong with that. He has no clue why his comments could offend anyone - in his mind white male supremacy is an absolute truth. I think he is truly baffled by people who try to argue with him.

10. You just want Pat Puke Cannon to call Sotomayer a "wetback spic" so he'll go away
Edited on Thu Jul-16-09 11:09 PM by zulchzulu
Pat Puke Cannon hates brown people or anyone who doesn't look like a swollen theocrat who is either living off a rich white daddy's inheritance.

Who to hate, Pat? That's right! Momma told ya ta hate dem naggers and speeicks... 'Specially dem hard-headed know-it t'all Socialists who's gonna take yer guns away on Sunday after mass. They are evil...

12. I too have been gobsmacked by the racism in the hearings. Was beginning to think I was the only one
and there is just a tad bit of sexism too, just to even things out. I've said as much at work this week and people look at me like they have no idea what I'm talking about. It's been isolating.

I remember Buchanon from the 1992 GOP convention. I think we won because he scared the hell out of moderate and thinking independents.

17. No you are not the only one. Hatch, Sessions, and was it Cornyn?
Dear God...and it's straight in your face racism. Stuff like well if this lawyer of Puerto Rican descent came to this conclusion of the case, why didn't you? As if to say all Puerto Ricans should have the same mindset---because of who they are.

13. He has not changed a bit over the years. When he ran for President,
he gave speeches that were against Jews, against women, against gays, against young people, against art, against intelectualism, against any type of personal freedom, and of course against everyone who supported any of the above.

I am amazed no one has tried to kill him over the years - he certainly has made enough enemies.

15. Yeah you nailed it
Pat Buchanan is saying what Jeff Sessions and Tom Coburn wish they could say and what they believe. The hearings this week have been a disgusting display of race baiting. They should be ashamed of what they are doing, but they are not.
