So here's a really dumb question...
While the debate about the health care plan heats up, it occurred to me that we already have govt. health care...medicaid. Why not change the name to USHS or USCares or something, tweek the benefits to make sure that adequate coverage is granted for illness and then make it available regardless of income?

We can still pay for it with the additional tax funding, but why re-invent the wheel?

3. Better yet, ask why Republican senators are against same healthcare that we pay for that they get

I wonder if a lot of people against the healthcare options even know that senators and congress people get GOVERNMENT-RUN healthcare that we pay for...

6. I believe the better question is this: MY taxes pay for YOUR

8. Republican senators are against it because they're assholes
What I want to know is why so many senators who claim to be DEMOCRATS are against it.

7. Because it would put a serious dent in the campaign treasuries
of both Republicans and Democrats.

Otherwise, you're completely right.

10. Do it with Medicare, not Medicaid.
Medicaid is a federal/state program, with much state control and state funding. Medicare is a federal program, a very-efficient one compared to private health insurance. "Medicare for all" has for some time been a rallying cry for many health-coverage reformers.
