Dean on Palin’s health care claims: ‘She made that up’
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean told CNN Sunday that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin had deliberately made up charges that the Obama administration’s health care bill would lead to euthanasia.

“About euthanasia, they're just totally erroneous. She just made that up,” he said. “Just like the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ that she supposedly didn't support.

“There's nothing like euthanasia in the bill. I practiced medicine for a long time, and of course you have to have end of life discussions — the patients want that. There's nothing… euthanasia's not in this bill.”

Dean was referring comments Palin made late Friday in a post on her Facebook page. In her post, the former Republican vice presidential candidate said President Obama’s health care plan would create a “death panel” that would weigh whether her parents or son Trig were “worthy of health care.”

1. Governor Dean has noticed what we in Alaska have known for quite a while.
If her lips (or her fingers) are moving, she is lying.

4. You've really got that right.
She did fake her way into the governorship and faked her way into her astronomical popularity ratings here over the first year and a half. That's one of the main reasons I hate her so much, the way she played the good citizens of this state. There are so many, many people here who either voted for her -- or at least came to kind of like her, even if they didn't vote for her (including myself and my husband) -- that are now embarrassed and ashamed to think that they were fooled so completely by this "person." She is a con artist of the highest degree -- the only good thing is that she's now exposed herself as such for those who are willing to open their eyes and see.

3. Oh man, the Bridge to Nowhere. The Dems must be pulling their hair out having to knock these lies
down. Euthanasia? It's so ridiculous. I'm glad he got the Bridge to Nowhere jab in there though. Just reinforces that the loony never changes.

10. Hey Sarah, why don't you just try and convince Obama to build "Carousel"
in Alaska? It would really "progress" the state to get all that end-of-life tourism and you could have a secondary source of income selling the right to hunt down any "runners" from helicopters, also too.

And yes, I do think Palin is basing her whole shtick on "Logan's Run."

17. That is EXACTLY what I was about to post..........verbatim!
How many life-saving procedures aren't approved by insurance companies because they are too expensive?

22. Perfect point, thanks...I've been trying to put those together and you did it for me.
The insurance companies are killing people through coverage decisions and high prices.

6. The sad part: He has to tell the media "She made that up"
Edited on Sun Aug-09-09 02:01 PM by Hansel
These people are so worthless. "Sarah said that President Obama slit the throat of a baby on the White House lawn and lapped up the blood while singing 'Thanks for the Memories' and square dancing by himself. How much do you think that is going to hurt Obama's health care agenda?"

12. Pretty unbelievable indeed. It's an alternate reality they seem to exist in. How anyone could hear
that woman say something so outlandish and just let it roll on by is beyond me.

15. Even CNN has turned into a Faux clone
Palin has always made shit up, and she has seldom been called for it.

Remember when Hillary was hammered about her embellished story of visiting Bosnia under fire? Why isn't the media as aggressive on Palin as they were on Hillary? The answer is so obvious: if you are a Republican you can get away with murder, if you are a Democrat, they will roast your ass for jaywalking.

18. How outrageous do they have to behave,
before the media calls them on it? Kerry got roasted to a crisp for a poorly delivered joke; Dean for an enthusiastic yelp; Obama for paraphrasing the governor of MA. Definitely a double standard.

diplomatic about saying it.

11. go Dean!
For someone who claims the media is out to get her, I always think that they let her off easy. The media whores on CNN were trying to say "Well, even if it may not be entirely true, isn't it GOOD for Palin that she is entering the policy debate!?" Seriously. I think someone responded (maybe Perlstein from Washington Post) that these "policy stands" have been on TWITTER AND FACEBOOK, not entering a national debate and being ready to defend these stances. Amanda Carpenter from townhall was on MSNBC exclaiming "She did NOT SAY that it would KILL her child....she used death panels in quotation marks!" Ok....

20. Dean was nicer about than I would have been.
"She fucking LIED like a rug. There's nothing like that in any version of the bill and Sarah Palin knows it--but her relationship with the national media is like Gollum and the Ring of Power."
