Daily Kos Diary: Alleged St. Louis "attack victim" has no health insurance

<snip>

Kenneth Gladney sat in a wheelchair on Pershing Avenue Saturday, his knee bandaged, holding a flag that read: "Don't Tread on Me."

Gladney, 38, was handing out the same flags after a town hall forum in Mehlville Thursday night, when, he says, he was attacked by members of the Service Employees International Union.

Less than 48 hours later, protesters gathered Saturday in front of the union's offices, many of them holding signs with a slightly different version of the message: "Don't Tread on Kenny."

Supporters cheered. Brown finished by telling the crowd that Gladney is accepting donations toward his medical expenses. Gladney told reporters he was recently laid off and has no health insurance.

Maybe somebody should ask Mr. Gladney why he is taking money from others. Clearly he hasn't earned the right to health insurance. So why is he asking others to support him, people who have jobs and work hard for their money? Why should they have to give it to him? Seems almost communistic or socialist to

UPDATE: As some folks in the comments have noted, Mr. Gladney seemed just fine until the cameras started shining on him. Now he's suddenly in a wheelchair with mounting medical bills. Someone should tell him that plotline is already taken.

Also, hat tip to my brother and sister-in-law from STL who called me with this bit of hilarity.

I'm just sayin'...

1. But isn't it is a RIGHT to have no health insurance? Doesn't he
like it that way?

What an idiot. Its cases like this that make me doubt the capacity of the average American.

6. This is a good example of how ridicule trumps reason when dealing with these types
While they mat be impervious to facts- and irony and empathy impaired- they often respond to ridicule if its kept up long enough.

Lower level emotions at play.

8. If he's accepting contributions for fake injuries wouldn't that be fraud and prosecuteable?

10. If he was a liberal, yes.
I'm trying to figure out why he is accepting contributions. One of the talking points the right has is that they pay for their own health care and everyone else should have to pay for theirs. It's all about personal responsibility isn't it? Isn't it only the people on the left that want everyone else to pay for them.

If he can't get the Tea Baggers to pay for his medical bills, if in fact there is any, then the tax payers will. Moron has made himself the poster boy for why we need a public health option.
