Today's two announcements:

1. Some Americans who tortured may be prosecuted. But the people who ordered the torture - hey, that's OK. The Geneva Conventions are for suckers.
2. We'll continue to kidnap people without judicial oversight and send them to countries known to torture. We'll monitor to make sure they're not tortured. Of course, we won't send innocent Gitmo residents back to some of these same countries because they might be tortured and we can't monitor it. :crazy:

Moral of the story - have others do your torturing for you, and everything's cool.

they wouldn't be held accountable for the torture. It's to distract from the even worse things they were directly involved in.
