Obama needs to denounce Max Baucus - on national television
Baucus' proposal to fine individuals and families for being unable -- let alone unwilling -- to purchase private health insurance is a total outrage, the real government fascism.

Obama can demonstrate how much he hates K-Street's control over American citizens by publicly denouncing Max Baucus.

3. All bridges to Baucus need to be burnt down to the ground
He needs to be drop-kicked from his Senate Finance Chair position as soon as possible. It needs to be done, or the efforts of American citizens to get Democrats in power will have been totally wasted.

5. Still, I doubt the prez will burn his own personal bridge with Baucus...
He may need him on future legislation.

8. he needs to lose his seat, not just his committee chairs
I expect a few primary challengers will be popping up for Mad Max's next election.

9. Unfortunately, he's not up for reelection until 2014
Which is, to say, an eternity from now.

13. And how is Max Bluecross NOT a Republican?
I don't care what letter appears after his name on TV. If it walks like a Repuke, talks like a Repuke, and blows corporations like a Repuke, it ain't a Democrat.

and deal with Max in private.

12. There's a reason why he's *praising* the likes of them
Edited on Tue Sep-08-09 06:01 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
and it ain't because he secretly likes them either. He knows that they're worthless and don't care about compromising on HCR but he is saying what he is saying about them to draw public attention to them because when he points them out the corporate media whores report on them and and they invariably have to point out their totally unhelpful public comments and record on the issue so far. He did a similar thing last month with Baucus as well.

14. Baucus gave his "Gang of 6" members 'til 10am tomorrow morning to
tell him if they approve of his plan or not. When they don't, he'll go back to the rest of the Dems. and join them.

15. I wonder if Baucus and Obama really believe this people want to work with them?
I don't think smart men really believe that. They'll do as usual, try to delay it. They'll act like they are interested and claim they need more time to read it. Thats what they do delay delay delay delay

17. I don't think Obama really believes it. He knows better. Gibbs pointed out how
Grassley and Enzi "put their cards on the table" with their anti-"Obamacare" statements. I think Baucuse DID really believe it which is why he's still giving them 'til 10am tomorrow morning to tell him if they're for his bill or against it. If there's no agreement, Baucus will join the Dems.
