6. Honestly, there's no other explanation and it's totally fucking disgusting.
I, like many of us, just sat and watched a totally slammin' foolproof defense of the public option...only to have the "Democratic" Chair of the Committee toss in the towel. Unbelievable. :grr:

15. I had no
doubt someone would come along to imply this is what Obama wanted. But you know what, no matter how many times people say that, it's still bullshit.

He won't be happy with this and anyone paying attention knows he won't be.

18. Let's see his impassioned speech against the Baucus bill and for a robust public option.
I haven't heard it yet, have you?

I have heard Obama go out and try to redefined the public option, and wag his finger at those of us on the left who insist on defining reform by the public option. I've heard him go out and bad mouth the post office, I've heard his right hand man call us "fucking stupid" for targeting Baucus and other Blue Dogs in ads. I've heard leaks come out that say that Obama negotiated the public option away with the drug companies months ago.

But no, I haven't heard Obama fight for a public option as most of us here define it. I'd like to see a link or something if you've got one. Not Obama's version of the public option with triggers, or only the 5% poorest eligible. The real one. Show me where that is, his unequivocal support for a strong public option.

24. Which public option, the one meant for the 5% poorest Americans? I've heard that one.
I've heard his speech calling for triggers and co-ops. I've also heard him voice his surprise and frustration that "so many on the left" defined healthcare reform by a public option.

Show me the one where he unequivocally shows support for a public option available to all Americans, without weaseling on the definition of "public option."

25. I see people
are still pushing the 5% bullshit.

Honestly, if you're going to slam him at least know what you're talking about.

It was ESTIMATED that only 5% would use it. Nowhere does it say that only 5% would be eligible.

26. The exact percentage is not nearly as important as the concept, no?
The end result is still the same---if you can afford crappy insurance, or if your employer provides it, you HAVE to take it.

34. LMAO!!!!
A troll? Because I pointed out your, um, misleading stats?

A debate is centered on facts. You've provided none. You tried to pass off the "only 5% will be elieble" meme, got called on it and now you're pissed. To bad, so sad. Try again when you get your facts straight.

35. 5%, 7% --- The point is that the "public" will be defined as only those who cant afford private care
You know damned good and well the exact percentage is not the issue. The limitation of the definition is the issue. And Obama is the one out there doing the most to try and limit that definition.

No, don't act like you won the argument because I may be off by a few points--you were trying to prove that Obama has been fighting for a robust public option, and you were proven wrong.

who voted no to the public option. They should 1. Never be allowed to be called Democrats and 2. Have their fucking insurance yanked from them.

What a pathetic bunch they are. The fuckers know they don't need 60 votes yet thats the best excuse they could come up with?

I'm sure this will somehow be blamed on Obama.

Sigh!! Can’t they pass some type of health care reform and add the public option in down the road later. Bottom line is, we need to get something passed, because things will look bad for democrats.

21. What kind of reform to you want to pass?
Or does your screename say it all?

To me, a bill without a strong public option really isn't reform. There are some good things in the proposal Obama made in his speech on TV, but I feel it still is too much of a gift to the insurance companies for my liking.

28. If I understand Max correctly...
He's going to take his vote, given to him by the people of Montana, and vote on legislation a certain way because a Senator from (say) Oklahoma is going to vote a certain way.

At what poing do the good people of Montana have to start wondering why the State of Oklahoma is entitled to three votes in the United States Senate?

33. And the reason he knows it does not have 60 votes
...is because he knows at the very least that he does not support it and the PO would need every Democrat supporting it to get 60 votes. Basically he is saying he can not support the amendment because....he can not support the amendment.
