The will act pissed and act upset but they know they won!!

The had a handful of tea baggers scare us enough that we were to scared to go for a real bill and just put up a half-ass bill.

And only ONE of they voted for our COMPROMISE!!

Congratulate yourself for falling for their plan!

1. Oh great and powerful OZ, how are you the only one the see this?
Get off it dude, this is how the sausage is made. Look back at medicare and SS. The initial bills were lacking, and they were strengthened over time. Go rain on someone else's parade.

14. Not sure the GOP is playing anything but whack-a-mole.
Just a bunch of tools.

But the Insurance Industry has certainly been playing chess - in both the Republican and Democratic "dimensions" - for many years. And their board position has never looked stronger than today.

But the game isn't over.

They voted against it. Their followers are dooming and glooming about socialism.

Read their boards and their publications. It's always fun to learn about how much we are winning and how we control the media and the world.

To them, this is doom! Government run health care! Oh noes!

25. The battle wasn't with the GOP and you know it
However, they played their part magnificently.

They did nothing less than define the objections for the Blue Dogs.

It was the Blue Dogs that had to be placated.

The GOP just gave them the REASON for objecting.

35. FUNNY - RETHUGS are saying the EXACT OPPOSITE
They're saying that "THEY" got played.. not Us. They're saying DEMS are the Chessmasters, NOT THEM.

http://forums.hannity.com/showthread.php?t=1713941

For the many of us that spent so much time watching and discussing the CSPAN coverage of the Pelosi Bill, it seemed that most confusion came from the Stupak Amendment.

Here was the conundrum, and please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Stupak Amendment was introduced by DEMOCRATS and guaranteed that the Pelosi Bill would not include funding for abortions. This was put on the table by the moderate democrats. These moderates were most likely getting an earful from their constituents regarding the abortion funding issue.

So along comes the Stupak Amendment. In order for the Dems to vote YES on Pelosi Bill, many of the moderate liberals are waiting (and needing) for this to pass in order to appease their constituents.

So how can they pass it? Only with the help from the Republicans. So should the Republicans vote for or against the Amendment?

What was eye opening was the debate even the conservatives had in the live-feed thread. Without knowing the origins of the Stupak Amendment almost all took the initial position of "Of course the Republicans should vote for it", which was quickly followed by those that would come along and say "But if they do, then the Pelosi bill will pass."

So, in essence the Republicans were put up against a wall with this. Do they vote yes (and get the anti-abortion amendment in, guaranteeing the passage of the Pelosi Bill) or do they vote no (which is a vote against pro-life)?

Well, as we found out, every single one of them voted yea on the Amendment.

The question is why? Had they voted it down, the liberal moderates would not have had cover, and the Pelosi Bill most likely would not have passed. And by the way, this isn't Monday morning quarterbacking, this was the discussion PRIOR to the vote.

It came to light that the Right to Life group sent a warning to the R leadership that any vote of PRESENT would be viewed as a NO vote. Why didn't they vote PRESENT anyway?

One question for this board....did the pro-life group Right to Life influence the vote? Or was it that the Republicans knew that the libs had the numbers, and were simply making sure that this was put through?

Had the Rs voted PRESENT on the Stupak Amendment, do you think that the whole Pelosi Bill would've died last night?

By the way, Nancy and gang knew this Amendment would pass giving the moderate liberals cover.

It seemed highly orchestrated in my opinion.

Thoughts?

40. I just read how Congressman Cao
called President Obama and told him he was on board if the abortion issue would go away since he is pro life. I would conclude that some sort of deal was made in order to get that one Republican vote...
I probably would have made the deal too, no, I definitely would have made a deal knowing that sooner or later, abortion coverage would return and it would be such a slap in the face of the Republicans...lol
