What if Kerry called Bush a chickenhawk in the debate?
Put aside for a moment the feeling of release that many of us would feel over here at DU at the thought of being given such prime red meat. If Kerry were to actually use that word in a pointed attack on Bush's moral authority to send troops into a meaningless war what would the public reaction be? Would that be an effective strategy?

4. He doesn't really need to use the word, he has this one important fact

Kerry went to VietNam, and was honored for his service there.

Bush has never served in any combat and has not received any honors for reading magazines about flying airplanes in Alabama.

2. The dems would love it, the repugs would faint dead away
at the audacity of that frenchie calling their hereo a chickenhawk and the media would never have another word to say other than how unpresidential Kerry sounded. We would never hear another word about a hurricane, a war, a terra alert or anything else until after New Year's Day.

3. I bet the networks would turn his mic off and they'd suddenly have
"technical difficulties". And then the big media pundits would all goto damage control mode and smear the heck out of Kerry.

7. Probably not a good idea, tempting as it is.
Public sentiment is running way too high on the subject of kids being put in harm's way -- either for or against.

8. Not bad, not bad....just flat calling him a liar might be better though.
I know!-lying chicken hawk, that's what he is! And he IS, too.

Kerry needs to be ready with some pretty sharp responses, because you just KNOW, Bush is going to be primed with at least one snotty little one-liner, hoping that is all anyone will remember of the debate.

Like Reagan, and his, "there you go again", against Jimmy Carter.

Kerry needs to be ready to escalate verbally, and wipe that smirk permanently from the monkeyman's face.

But yeah, we need to be ready to be harder and tougher in our comebacks than they would ever believe we would risk. That will confuse Bush...and then he is lost.

As I have posted before, I might even go in to the debate laying for HIM...just waiting.

Better to leave it up to cooler heads than mine, however...I am not known for subtlety, in real life.

But on the other hand, we are probably past the point where subtlety is either wise, or efficacious-it is now smackdown time!
