please post some nominations for worst Alabamian of all time
Edited on Wed Jul-27-05 04:10 AM by Syrinx
Past or present. People who hurt our state the most.

I'll start. George Wallace and Roy Moore.

George Wallace actually did a lot of good things for the state, but all that was overshadowed by the bad he did.

Roy Moore hasn't done anything good for the state, but I don't think he is truly evil. He's just seriously misguided, and has a persecution complex.

Anyway, those are my two. Nominate away.

9. Democratic, I guess
There's a little picture of him and a few words here:

http://www.alabamastuff.com/price.htm

It says he was an alternate delegate to the 1952 Democratic Convention.

I believe he also wrote a book called "I Ain't Nothing But A Loser."

19. Who bought Shorty Price steak dinners back in the 50s?
BamaLefty, you must ask your granddad (a great man) about that one and many more stories. Shorty listed him as a supporter in his book, "Alabama Politics-Tell It Like It Is."

10. Former Birmingham police chief Bull (I forgot his last name)
It could be "sh**" for all I remember. He did great things for perpetuating the perception of a redneck backwards state. I remember now I believe it was Conner.

18. Terrell Owens
Just kidding actually. But it does come off as a little "pompous" when someone making $7m per year gets mad because the coach told him to "shut up". I've been told to shut up at MUCH lower paying jobs and acted more grown up than him.

23. Second that Nomination
I was looking for info on my grandfather when I found this post. I second the nomination on Wallace. I have a little inside on the subject considering my grandpa was Shorty Price. He was one of Wallace's roomates in college and when grandpa Shorty helped him get into office, he turned around and acted like he didn't even know him. It was a little messed up of that one blogger to say grandpa had any negative influence on Alabama because if he did, Alabama politics would have taken a sharp curve in a different direction. I just had to say my peace. He was entertaining but most of all honest regardless of who was offended. It would be awesome if honesty was upheld in politics the way he thought it should.
