Hey, Ken, how are things looking for McAdams
down in Southeast? He seems to be picking up quite a bit of support up here in Anchorage.

1. Scott is a hell of a nice guy!
Just a regular joe. But, it really seems like Lisa is gonna steamroll over Scott and Joe (I'm an Asshat) Miller.
I hope Scott runs for a statewide office if he loses this. I think he has really built a solid base from nothing over the last few weeks.
Now that the "real" Joe Miller is self destructing right before our very eyes, it's apparent that Lisa is gonna hit this one out of the park.

2. I don't think Lisa can win with a write-in.
Not everyone in Alaska is so plugged into the political scene that they will think to write her in. My guess is many voters will walk into the voting booth, see the names on the ballot and pick one. It also seems like Joe's implosion should motivate some of the Mutkowski-leaning Democrats to return to the party. So many of them are motivated by fear of Joe -- if he's out of the equation, there's no need to vote for Lisa to stop him. Lisa or Joe would vote the same way in the Senate, however Mitch McConnell tell them. Neither of them is on our side.

3. Where is the $$$ going?
I agree that not everyone is plugged into the pol scene. They should be. I believe that many people will also misspell her name and unless they have changed the write-in rules, they will not be counted. Perhaps they will look at "intent."
It looks like McAdams is coming up in the polls and I like what Tom Begich has to say about his chances. Two concerns: First; where is he spending all the money? I don't watch TV, I live remote, so don't see the ADN or the Fairbanks Minor Miner, or the Juneau Empire, so I am serious. I do seem to run across many adds by Lisa and Miller. Where is the $$$ ?
Second, I don't trust the electronic voting. Mostly because of what I read that is happening all over the country. Do you think that AK has any better system?

5. Some good TV ads and lots of travel
I think Scott's best bet is to continue what he's doing, getting out and meeting people, holding town halls, etc. I've been to a couple of events and he is quite impressive in person.

4. I hope you are right!
But, Lisa is well known all acrossd alaska and is being endorsed by native groups and the arp and lots of other groups. She is also way ahead in the polls. I would not vote for her...but many will becouse she has satisfied them locally.

6. I was canvassing for him a week ago, and he was getting good responses at homes in the Valley
(In Juneau, that's the Mendenhall Valley, traditionally the most Republican part of the Juneau Borough.

Also, the polling link DU has on its front page has him only eight points down overall.

A lot of people are backing Lisa because they think she's the only one who can stop Miller.

The big issue is having to show people that it's not that effective to try to stop Miller by backing Lisa as a write-in. What people DON'T know(and I think the McAdams campaign needs to take out a big ad in the ADN and the Empire to point out)is that 10% of the votes for any write-in candidate are traditionally thrown out due to spelling errors.

So, in short, there IS hope.

7. Write in Candidates' list
If the DOE allows the polling places to continue to post the lists, the 10% will be cut down to ?? I don't understand why the Dems don't make a huge issue of this and nip it in the bud.

8. They are making a huge issue out of it.

From the comments, it looks like a lot of people agree that this is totally unacceptable.

9. Miller Behind in the Polls!!
It is a bit disturbing to hear of all the progressives who say they will vote for Lisa to keep Miller out of office. They seem to believe that there would be a significant difference between Miller and Lisa. Lisa is being branded as Repub-lite. She is not! She has been a significant part of blocking anything that the progressives want to legislate. We need change. We need to encourage all our fellow progies to get out and vote... for McAdams. As of this morning, Miller has fallen to third at 23%. We have a huge opportunity.

11. The numbers are:
A Hays Research Group poll released Thursday showed write-in candidates, presumably meaning Sen. Lisa Murkowski, in the lead with 34 percent, Democrat Scott McAdams with 29 percent and Miller with 23 percent.

12. My sister was at the debate a week or so ago and
was quite impressed by Scott. She is disappointed that Alaska's D's have not gotten more behind him. It sounds like things are picking up for him in the last week or so, though.
