Anyone from Warren/Monticello area?
That's where my folks came from. I haven't been there in almost 40 years and I was wondering what it's like now.

1. Greetings to a Fellow Bradley Countian
I proudly was a Hustlin' Hermit and lived in Warren until last month.
What would you like to know?

Also, did you know I am following Bill Well's footsteps and running
for Lt. Governor?

Please check out my website at http://www.DrewPritt.com

2. Well, for starters
is the Eagle Democrat still around? I've looked online for it, with no results.

You lived in Hermitage? My mom lived in Ingalls when she was a girl. :hi:

3. Update
The Eagle Democrat is unfortunately NOT ONLINE. I wish it was as well.

Bob Newton, the old Country Editor, sold the paper to Danny Cook.

We used to have our farm at Eagle Lake Crossroads. Mom and Dad live in
Cloverdale now.

4. I remember Bob Newton
He wrote that real down-home column, didn't he?

This is probably before your time, but an uncle of mine used to write a humor column for the Eagle Democrat under the pen name Otto Van Isch. He was a psych prof at (then) A&M in Monticello. My aunt taught grammar school there.

I was thinking my dad lived in Warren proper, but I was just looking at a map and remembered he was from Banks.

5. 6 Degress of Separation
When we first moved to Arkansas, we lived in Arkansas, across the street from Mrs. Hattie McFarland, who only died just
a few years ago. We then moved after a year down to Hermitage. My dad was pastor of the Edwards-Rogers Larger Presbyterian Parish with churches in Banks, Hermitage, and in Johnsville.

Bob Newton is still kicking with that beautiful second wife of his. Sadly some other paragons like Clint Huey, Bill Wells,
Beebe Paulus, Judge P.K. Roberts, Paul Whittaker, and E.M. Reynolds, Jr. have gone onto their reward. Its sad as I worked
for Mr. Wells and many of these men were people I learned greatly from.

Gary McFarland still runs the General Store in Banks and it has a beautiful new Post Office.

7. Paulus
Not sure ... B.B. Paulus was Mayor of Warren in the 1950's and lived in a house directly across
the street from 1st Presbyterian Church in Warren on Church Street. He was a diehard Razorback
fan and an awesome man to have known!

8. Bradley County
To keep up with the Warren area news you should subscribe to
the Eagle Democrat. It is well worth the $30 and usually is
only a week old when you get it. Bob Newton still writes his
column, even tho he sold the paper. It is also a wonderful way
of keeping up with old friends who still live there, or obits
on those who have moved away. I left there for college in 1951
and last visited for my father's funeral in 1988. It was a
wonderful place to grow up, and call home. Greengirl

12. From Warren...left in 1967
I lived in Warren til I went in the Army in 1967. I delivered
papers for Mr. Binns Mr. Hester and my Dad worked at Wilson
Oak flooring.

They removed the old WHS. Changed removed several land
marks...and passed up a great chance to have a Walmart at the
old drive inn...made a ball ground out of it...thus every one
goes to Monticello and Warren is almost dead!

But...that is "justme"

9. Monticello
I grew up in Warren and had many friends who lived in
Monticello. Have lost touch with them. Would love to find out
about a girl named Joanne Fish, who
graduated high school in 1951. We met at a band camp and
formed a close friendship, visited each other and even double
dated some of the time. Was before the new highway was built,
but we traveled the old one a lot.

10. I grew up not far from Warren
and went to college in Monticello. My favorite time of year is coming up, "The Pink Tomato Festival". My favorite because I won't have to suffer through hot-house tomatoes with no taste.
