No PLACE to Vote! Only mail ballots.

I received notice that there is no polling place for my address, that vote by mail is the only way to vote, and that I should watch for my ballot. I would probably vote by mail, anyway, but not having a polling place is a little strange. -mb

1. where do you live?
One of the less populated counties, perhaps?

http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_ppl.htm has a list of who to contact for finding your polling place. Note that some counties don't have on-line information yet, but all of them have a number to call.

2. That happened to me before.
Apparently they weren't anticipating many in-person voters in my precinct that time, as my neighborhood had a fairly high absentee rate due to the number of elderly people.

I'm guessing it's something like that?

3. Received notice from whom?
I hope you'll check with your registrar of voters office to make certain that the notice came from them. In my county there was a mail-only election about one small issue this summer, and there are mail-only precincts, I believe, that are very very rural. If you want to vote in person, you can (if you're able) go to the registrar of voters office and vote there. I think this is true everywhere in CA, but it's definitely important to check.

The election integrity community, as a whole, recommends that people vote in person whenever possible. If you must vote absentee, deliver your ballot by hand to your county election office if possible (or find out if you can deliver it to a nearby precinct and still have it counted).

If you discover that someone other than your county elections office sent out this notice, please post that info on to your county elections office, your political party, DU, at the new Voter Suppression Wiki, AND at 1-866-OUR-VOTE.

5. That is strange. I'd check it out. The last time I voted in SCC
was the night Jimmy Carter lost to Raygun. They'd already called the election but we voted anyway. It was somewhere up by the Lodge in Boulder Creek.

7. My Ballot arrived today.
My neighbor who has lived here longer than I said it is because we are on the border between two "cities," and there is a shortage of poll workers. I live in Santa Cruz County. -mb
