Saw a great LTTE in the Rocky Sunday
it was one of those one-liners they print in the perspective section. I don't have the exact quote, but it basically went like this; "yesterday, while driving across the pot-holes and ruts sometimes called 6th avenue the I saw something which basically boiled down the C&D debate for me: a brand new $74,000 Jaguar with a sticker saying "vote no on C&D - it's your money"

1. Yes, I saw that.
It was in that extra comments section in Denver and the West, I think. Had to laugh at that.

2. i love the pithy comments section
More concise and better informed than half of the columnists. Probably more than half come to think of it.

3. What people don't get is that the money must come from somewhere.

The state MUST have a strong infrastructure--roads, bridges, etc.--to support population growth, attract businesses, etc. If C&D fail such that the state doesn't have tax revenue to keep up with repairs, new roads, new traffic lights, etc., those things will still happen because they're absolutely essential. But instead of our state taxes paying for those things, our highways will become toll roads and our cities and counties will seek to increase taxes to fund local projects. There's just no choice. These things must be done, the money must come from somewhere, and in one way or another it'll come from us.
