Illinois Photo Radar
Anyone else know about Illinois Photo Radar going into effect July 1?

This from an e-mail:

I thought all of you should know about this, word has it that they are not going to give an inch on this.

Beginning in July the State of Illinois will use speed cameras in areas designated as "Work Zones" on major freeways.

Anyone caught by these devices will be mailed a $375.00 ticket for the FIRST offense.

The SECOND offense will cost $1,000.00 and comes with a 90-Day suspension.

Drivers will also receive demerit points against their license, which allows insurance companies to raise their rates.

This represents the harshest penalty structure yet for a city or state using PHOTO enforcements. The State will begin with TWO camera vans issuing tickets in work zones with speed limits lowered to 45 MPH. Photographs of both the Driver's face and License plate are taken. Pass this on to everyone you know !!!!

For more info: http://www.dot.state.il.us/press/r033005.html

For anyone thinking about driving in Illinois around "Working Zones" watch y=
our speed ................

2. Drove thru several workzones yesterday
returning home from the east. Drove 80 to 55 up to 355 and out on 88. Appears we were the only vehicle paying ANY attention to the speed limit of 45 and we were going 50 to 55. Even had the pleasure of a semi honking at us. Can't afford the fines though so we stayed at that speed.

When this does kick in, there will be huge $$ collected.

3. It makes me nervous
People cut me off all over, it can't be safe. But I cannot afford the fines so that's the way it has to be.
