Another Scheurer to run against Bean.
Another Scheurer to run against Bean

June 20, 2007
BY DIANA KUYPER Special to the News-Sun

It's all in the family when it comes to running for Congress against incumbent Melissa Bean.

Randi Scheurer, 56, of Lindenhurst, will face Bean of Barrington Hills in next February's Democratic primary.

Scheurer's husband, Bill, ran unsuccessfully against Bean in the 2004 Democratic primary and faced her again as a Moderate Party candidate in 2006.

"I am running to bring the troops home and take care of them when they return. Congress has voted consistently to fund the war. Our representative has been disingenuous in not representing the wishes of the people," said Scheurer.

Her husband will also seek the District 8 congressional seat as the Moderate Party candidate in the November 2008 general election.

1. anyone here know these people?
i would like to see a peace candidate, but i would also like to see someone who i think can actually do the job. good luck to her. but in the future i recommend that she not allow herself to be photographed with that dog, especially when they are wearing matching hairstyles. don't mean that in a catty way, just, look like a congressperson if you want to be one.

2. I don't know them. I find it odd that her husband plans to run for the same
seat, but as the Moderate Party candidate, and that the only political difference between them is she's pro-choice while he's anti-choice.

3. Very decent folks, both of them. Bill is progressive, but he is so torn over the abortion
issue that he doesn't think he can run as a Democrat any longer because he doesn't believe in them (abortions). He doesn't believe in them, but he wants to work to make them less necessary essentially. When I asked him, he said he didn't support overturning Roe V Wade either, so make of that what you will. I think he needed to sit down and really focus on what his overall message was though, because he didn't get it across very well. My personal opinion, I thought he tried way to hard to please everyone instead of standing on principle, but he's just an average guy and not a seasoned politician, so I can't fault him too much.

I sincerely wish we had a stronger candidate to run in a primary against Bean, but everyone around here is just so darn glad that we have a Democrat, any Democrat that they don't want to rock the boat. Bean is better than nothing, obviously our history is pretty bad for this district, but we have to be able to do better than Bean.

5. Agreed

...I really think that the abortion issue is what kept Bill from doing better in the election. If his wife is pro-choice and wants to bring home the troops Bean had better watch her ass.

Curious where in District 8 are you? I'm in the McHenry area.

Cheers

8. Wow

I thought I was the only one out here. I'm actually in Johnsburg, but I usually say McHenry because more people are familiar with it.

As you are by Fox Lake you might enjoy foxlakesux.com
It's a site for those in the area to piss and moan, but also share local info.

Cheers

4. We have mutual friends

...seems to be very nice from what I've heard. According to mutual friend I have had a conversation with both years ago, which I don't remember at all (I really think our friend is mixing me up with someone else)

I do think that Bill would have done better in District 8 had he been pro-choice. Bean needs to watch her ass, too many people in District 8 are not happy with her.

Cheers

7. I don't know, the local Dem groups around here are very happy to have Bean and/or her
staff show up. I received quite a few nasty emails from local active Dems who were VERY against me saying anything against Bean. Needless to say, most of my time and money went to the 10th district instead of the 8th.

9. I haven't talked to many

..in my immediate area, I only know of one other Dem in my subdivision, my neighbor, but others I've talked with that live farther south (Hawthorn Woods, Lake Zurch) and they heard more rumblings during the last election.

I got blasted here during election time talking about Bean so I hear ya

Cheers

12. Free The Democrats
Nickster-

You need to find the courage to support progressive candidate with "trueblue" values. We need to pull together as a progressive community in the 8th, ignore the opposition, and bring our values to Washington. Let's rock the boat and send Randi Scheurer to Washington!

Know that I have been all over the district and the people are speaking out loud and clear- they do not want the incumbent to represent them. They are realizing they are being taken for granted and her interests are special interests in Washington, not the interests of working families, and people in the district.

Stay strong!

10. Even though I don't have a dog in this hunt, Randi Scheurer
sounds like my kind of Democrat. I'm hoping and praying someone like her will run against DINO Dan Lipinski in the primary in February.

He and Melissa Bean are literally cut from the same bolt of cloth..

11. "Free The Democrats" Randi Scheurer WILL NOT run against her husband in the primary or general!
www.FreeTheDemocrats.com

Randi Scheurer is running in the IL-8th Congressional Democratic primary race against Melissa Bean to win! She is not running against her husband at any time in any of the races. Once in the general she will be running against the Republican challenger who is not going to be elected into office. The voice of the people have spoken. They want their voices heard and the incumbent has failed to do this. In fact the incumbent voted for warrentless wiretapping legislation further removing our rights as citizens of this country. Can she be anymore Republican! Let's have the courage to vote our values. What happened to representation- "Of the people, For the people, By the people"? Free The Democrats is the ticket.
