A dem to run against manzullo
To who ever posted about Galena's mayor running against manzullo, kudos! Tuite states that there may be more candidates, which I doubt. Unless the who can piss farther game is going on and Winnebago County has a candidate of their own. I'll keep my ears open - we don't need a primary fight. All monies must go to one candidate. We need a bare-knuckle, no-holds-barred FACT attack against donny-boy. We won't lack for data, starting with his testerone pumping of NAFTA and the number of jobs lost in his district. And the tax panel's proposal is a tax INCREASE for a majority of voters in my area.

1. i'm so glad, but
i think primary fights are good for the party. we should embrace them wholeheartedly. avoiding primaries really is damaging to our democracy. that is why we always end up with tweedle dee and tweedle dum. because we do not know how to conduct ourselves in primaries, and we are afraid to spend the money. this nonsense has got to stop.

glad to hear that manzullo will face a challenge, tho. keep us informed.

2. His name is Auman.
He spoke at our Democratic picnic here in Ogle County. Here is a Freeport Journal-Standard article about him:

http://www.journalstandard.com/articles/2005/11/06/local_news/news02.txt

I spoke to him at length before the picnic started. He is a liberal, and pro-choice. Manzullo's spokesman "expressed surprise" that Auman is running against him, because he had been supportive of Manzullo's efforts to get Galena help with their waste water project. Like no one is supposed to run against Manzullo.

This guy is doing things right. He is a serious candidate. He has been to Camp Wellstone, and has a campaign manager. The manager was former Democratic congressman's manager; the name escapes me at the moment. We will be having a fundraiser for him. He needs to raise $100,000.00 before the end of the year, and a million dollars in all. You know Manzullo will have help from wealthy Chicago-area repukes.

It is going to be fun to see Manzullo forced to campaign. Open your wallets, folks. And get ready to knock on doors.
