1. I keep thinking that we are more sensible than that BUT...
I thought that Kerry would win too.

I wonder if it was deliberately passed without exceptions for health, rape etc. so it would be defeated in court. Also interesting that the repug gov isn't sure if he will sign it or not.

Regarding our potential leaders...I met Blouin last week and he vowed that he dow not want to change any existing abortion laws. But I can't help wonder what it going on in his head when he refuses to answer a simple question about the morning-after pill.

6. Only legal re: the LIFE of the mother
but we know what these neanderthals think life is - hooked up to a machine to breath and eat. Non-responsive to any stimuli. That's life.

As for Blouin, note that I am a Culver supporter so biased, I believe he is saying what people want to hear and that is all. His personal belief is to outlaw abortion or to restrict women's reproductive health care rights. He voted to do so while he was in Congress. He is willing to go against his personal religious convictions to get elected, will he go against those same beliefs when he's Governor? Or will he go against the people who got him there? Do you want to take that chance? As a woman, I don't.

7. As a father with daughters...
This makes me very nervous. Someone asked him about this last week at his appearance here. His answers satisfied the questioner but seemed to leave the room a little anxious.

2. It will happen in Iowa as soon as the regressives think
they have the votes. I would guess it is too close right now.
Question, can I assume birth control and the morning after pill are still available in SD or did they ram through something to outlaw that also?

4. Yeppers - there is a master plan.
It almost scares me to think was a shambles this country will be left in for the next POTUS, that is providing junior will step aside.
Things are set up to start falling apart in 2009. The regressives are ready to quit blaming Clinton and start blaming the next guy while glorifying the boy king.
Sorry off the subject.
I am really feeling sorry for women. I suspect that birth control will be the next target of the holy men.

5. The SD Legislation outlaws all abortions
The only exception is to save the life of the woman. From what I've been able to gather about this legislation today, it makes all abortions a felony. Although it will eventually be up to a court to determine the scope of the law, as it stands right at this moment, anything which would result in the abortion of a pregnancy would be a felony. That would include morning after pills, birth control pills, and possibly even horseback riding -- it was written so broad.

8. It's a test case
But it still looks like SCOTUS will uphold Roe, at least according to previous decisions. It'll be closer, but probably not overturned. If the court takes the case.
