Crazy man harrassing Morrison with robo calls to voters
Californian behind calls against Morrison

Call center owner was prosecuted by A.G.-elect

By Jonathan Kealing

Wednesday, January 3, 2007

The 2006 election was two months ago, but Kansas voters are now getting a new wave of calls attacking Attorney General-elect Paul Morrison.

Several Douglas County voters have reported receiving prerecorded calls that claim Morrison is corrupt and has a criminal record. The voters assumed the calls came from Attorney General Phill Kline, who lost his re-election bid to Morrison.

However, the calls are originating from Conrad J. Braun of San Diego. Braun blames Morrison for legal troubles that date back to 1989.

He also owns a call center in California.

Braun’s criminal record in Johnson County begins with a misdemeanor battery conviction in 1989, Johnson County court records show. Morrison was elected Johnson County district attorney that same year, and had worked in the district attorney’s office since 1982.

1. Everyone thought PhilL was behind it, hmmmm, wonder why?
A phone call from a nut job, it has to be Kline-related.

But seriously, this guy is nuts. Here's a partial transcript of his message.

Hello citizens of Kansas, this is Conrad Braun with a political message from the Committee for Fair Trials in America. I was raised and lived over 40 years in Kansas and I am calling now about corruption by newly elected Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison.

If you don't want to listen to this message please hang up now. If you want on our Do Not Call list press 9 at any time and we will never call you again about corruption by Kansas Attorney General Elect Paul Morrison. The message is a about 3 minutes and at the end of the message is a two question poll, so if you don't have time now hang-up and visit our website at fairtrailsinamerica.org that's fairtrialsinamerica.org

If you would like to hear more please press 4. Press 4 now.

First, let me say that what I am calling about it not a Republican or Democrat issue. It is an issue of unchecked corruption in public office. It started in Leawood, Kansas and that is why I am calling you now. Fifteen years ago, unknown to me, the City of Leawood Police Department used my 9-year-old son in a failed sting. This evidence was concealed at trial by the Johnson County District Attorney's Office to secure a wrongful conviction and to deny access to my sons. I wound up doing more that 2 years in Kansas prisons on what was supposed to be a 90-day sentence. While in Kansas prisons my business collapsed and I was indicted in on federal charges. I make no excuse for my federal conviction. I did what I thought was best at the time but it was a crime.

I think it is best that I rob a bank, okay?

3. and now he thinks it's good idea to harass innocent people
and to use the telephone (interstate commerce) to do it. Hmmmm, I think he's going for another federal charge. He must miss the boys in Cell Block C.

6. I just got one of these calls a few minutes ago.Hung up before I found out
after reading the information in this thread that I could have pressed #9 and gotten on his no call list. Rats!

Came here to post a message mentioning the call and asking if anyone heard anything about this, to please post his name so I could find out who was trying to do Paul Morrison in the very minute he has taken office in Topeka.

This LJ World article is PERFECT. Tons of information. Wonderful. Thank you so much.

7. I got one of these calls
two days ago, about ten minutes before I was to walk out the door and drive to Topeka for an interview with (honest!) Paul Morrison about a job in the AG's office. I didn't have time to listen to the entire robo call, so thanks for posting the transcript.
