Total disaster: Bob's Southern Bistro (a.k.a. Bob the Chef's) is closing forever.
I'm fucking BUMMED.

Excellent jazz joint.

Galactic meatloaf.

Ridiculous gravy.

Astonishing ribs.

Truly orgasmic mac & cheese.

And the catfish strips...ohh, ahh, the catfish strips...where the hell am I going to get catfish in Boston now?

Fried chicken.

Hush puppies. I say again...hush puppies.

Gone as of tomorrow.

The owner is going to concentrate on his other joint in the South End, which is called The Beehive and is, by all accounts, an excellent place. Hopefully the southern-style menu will its way down there.

Boo.

1. My husband remembers the Big M Nightclub
I've never been to Bob's but your description sounds delicious.

Where on Columbus Av is(was) it?

3. I used to live at Bob the Chef's!

OK, not really, but I used to eat there about once a month. I miss the glorified chicken. I am originally from South Carolina, so it was always like home eating in there.

On edit: Sad to about Liquor Land. Always bought the booze there. Sometimes scary, sometime not so. The staff was always superior in every way. Now, making room for a CVS? Please.

4. If you are in desperate need...
of good catfish and the best hush puppies you'll ever eat in your life, then you need to come visit me in my new digs in Raleigh.

Sorry they're shutting your place down though. *hugs*
