Landsdowne Street clubs sold to House of Blues

BOSTON -- Popular nightclubs behind Fenway Park that are undergoing a major renovation have been sold to the House of Blues chain.

Lyons Group is selling the Landsdowne Street clubs to House of Blues Entertainment for an undisclosed price.

The properties in Monday's deal include the clubs Avalon and Axis, which are closed during renovation. Lyons Group had planned to turn the clubs into a flashy complex called the Landsdowne Street Music Hall.

The renovation will still go on, but the clubs will carry the House of Blues name. The clubs are scheduled to reopen by year's end as an expanded $14
million venue that includes a music hall that can accommodate 2,500 people.
