Dem primary results by town
Here's a link to the Globe's map of results by town:

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/primaries/mass_primary_dem_results_by_town/

Each candidate did better in very specific parts of the state, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what Obama's towns have in common, and what Clinton's towns have in common, if anything.

Any ideas?

2. Thanks. I wasn't sure where to find that information.
I found a couple of things interesting from a quick study of the maps. I can't comment on the towns in the rest of the state because I'm not familiar enough with them, but it the towns in the Greater Boston area, I was able to guess which towns went for Obama. They were the towns that are more progressive, with more independent-minded people. I also looked at the republican map, and interestingly the towns that went for McCain were a lot of the same towns that went for Obama.

3. yeah, I think "independent-minded" is the right word
What's mysterious about the map is that Franklin County, which is not particularly left of center, went for Obama along with the most progressive parts of the state -- the Five Colleges area, Cambridge, and the Cape.

I think the best way to put it is that areas with strong historical ties to the Democratic party tended to go for Clinton, while the more independent-minded parts of the state went for Obama. That's how I'd describe Franklin County -- not crazy-left, but with a strong independent streak.

4. Er, what?
Franklin County is very left, generally, but doesn't seem to be when compared to Noho or Amherst. Trust me on that, I lived there my entire life up to age 29.
