Not Yet Fired Fox Reporter Who Outed Teacher's Porn Past Defends Actions

Mike Beaudet may in fact be Malden, Massachusetts’ least-favorite reporter ever, but while he still has his job at local Fox affiliate Fox 25 WFXT-TV, he and his as-yet unnamed producer are milking their story about a beloved high school teacher’s past work in gay porn for all it’s worth. Last night, Beaudet, went on-air to discuss why he did the “undercover” story, outing Kevin Hogan, but all he could come up with is a replay of the previous night’s story, sans the porn B-roll.

Apparently, as you’ll see in this video, Beaudet would be just fine if Hogan — whom we still don’t know if it even is Hogan who made the films — had made the films 20 years ago, rather than just last year. Apparently, when you make porn has something to do with whether or not you’re a “good enough” person to teach high school kids.

Interestingly, too, the story starts and ends with the “fact” that Fox got a tip and that’s how they started to pursue the story…

There’s a “Support Kevin Hogan, FIRE Mike Beaudet” Facebook page, with more than 1400 fans, and a Fire Mike Beaudet petition at Change.org.

1. I saw a pic of the teacher and a screen shot from a film. If it's not him, he has a twin.
The school said they received NO complaints about the teacher, so Fox's "tip" may have come from some closeted wingnut who likes to make trouble--or someone who knows the teacher and has an issue with him for some reason (rejection, maybe?).

Two things have the potential to screw this guy over:

1. If he didn't acknowledge this "employment" on his application if it encompassed a timeframe where they asked for work history (some places just want you to go back ten years, if this happened fifteen years ago, well, he's OK);

2. The "morals" clause in his contract--IF it is sufficently specific. If it says something like "Cough up if you've worked in the adult entertainment industry, prostitution industry, etc., etc."

I hope he's lawyered up. Even at that, though, this might make it difficult, if not impossible, for him to continue to work in his job.

I don't see what that reporter was looking to gain. By all accounts, the guy was a good teacher. It was just "gotcha" for "gotchas" sake. I think the real story here isn't the teacher, but who tipped the reporter--and why.

3. That is what it looks like...unless there's a revenge motive we're not seeing.
I could see if the guy was running a film business out of garage on the side that there might be an interest and a concern, but if this chapter of his life is well in his past, it's just meanness to bring it up.

Funny how everyone managed to 'get over it' when we learned that Scott Brown covered his penis with a rather thin wrist and posed naked for Cosmo to pay for law school, with a great big cheery grin, too. And he wasn't a low-paid teacher, he's now a high-priced Senator.
