Tanker explodes on I-75...
and takes out the whole 9 Mile bridge. That's going to be a mess for a long while, I think.

1. My daughter just told me about it. It looks like a mess. Saw a pic with at least one car
that was burning and saw that a Meijer truck burst into flames as well. I can't help but wonder about lives lost.

2. I heard the driver is okay

Pretty amazing. I haven't heard about anyone else yet. 75 is going to be closed for a long time. And everyone was so excited they just reopened 75 near downtown five weeks early.

3. Watch for the gas stations who price gouge. Write the stations that gouge and turn them in.
Some business will use this to jack up the gas price.

4. Yup. That's 2.5 miles south of where my stepsister lives. It's on her commute. (VIDEO)

5. I can't believe no one was killed
Thanks to the experience of the truck drivers, apparently. The driver seems to think that even though he was a new driver, and was going 20 miles over the suggested speed limit, he didn't do anything wrong!

Once they rebuild, they need to address the issue of speeding. I hate driving on 75 and 696 in Detroit. Everyone drives way too fast, the police turn a blind eye, the drivers claim they are just "keeping up with traffic" and everyone pretends that the speed limits are appropriate to the design of the highway. Well, the roads may have been designed for higher speeds, but that's when there was way, way less traffic. Ten years ago, or so, the highways were at 250% of designed capacity and it's probably worse now. Anyone who is not an idiot should realize that speeds should be lowered accordingly.

I remember driving through Detroit when we were little. Everyone drove fast, but the cars were spaced out much, much farther apart. It's really unsafe now, and we see what happens every time a heavy fog rolls over 96 and there are pileups of 150 or more cars.

Again, I can't believe no one was even hurt in this crash. Thank God.
