Funny thing about the "Pro-War" ads...
Edited on Tue Feb-21-06 12:15 AM by mediaman007
The general theme of the ads seem to say that they were doing noble work and if opportunity would present itself, they would die again.

As a children's librarian, I've read a book called "The Wall" by Eve Bunting as a lead up to Memorial Day. The books tells about a boy and his dad visiting the Viet Nam Memorial. Interestingly enough, the point of the book, is that their are many children who will be missing a parent, and multiples of those children that have been denied a grandparent.

I've had the honor of having three grandchildren. Its the reward of a lifetime. Granted, these dead soldiers may have believed in their mission, but the void they leave in their family and friends is incalculable.

Its a shame, but those ads just don't get it. No matter how honorable, death has a huge ripple effect that can't be denied.

Edit for spelling

1. Those ads make me angry!
I wish the local media would have the cojones to stand up against the obvious propaganda.

And the voice over guy's voice makes me want to :puke:

2. I want to find out who is REALLY behind those ads...
"Progress for America?" An article in today's Strib calls them a "multi-million dollar company."

I fully expect that someone with ties to Halliburton and other war profiteers is deeply involved with this.

3. I just did a llittle research...
Progress for America's top contributors have made or inheirited their fortunes through oil and gas companies, or have strong ties to the oil and gas companies.

Most of them are Texas BushCo cronies.

One of the largest contributors, Jerry Perenchio ($4,000,000 for the 2004 election cycle and another $4,000,000 for 2006!), owns Univision Communications. Interestingly, a few years ago he spent $1 million trying to stop English immersion, Proposition 227. Gee, why would a guy who owns the largest Hispanic broadcast (TV and Radio) outlet want to do that? :sarcasm:

5. You should send this to Pat Kessler
maybe he'll do another Reality Check.

Have you tried writing a letter to the Strib with this info?

6. Once I started researching Progress for America...
I started thinking this must be yet more information that the MSM is perfectly aware of, but chooses to ignore.

You are right, DFLpricess, I should write a letter to the Strib, especially because they keep printing letters claiming that the ad is the grass-roots action of a local group of vets.

As far as Pat Kessler, I must confess that I stopped watching the local TV news a couple of years ago, since it had so little actual news and so much "filler."

(Thanks for the nudge...;-) )
