1. Well, I forgot to pay my website bill...
Of course, when switching to the new yahoo, it decided my ISP was now a spammer and put the notification e-mail into that folder. (which was b.s.)

I've never known ye olde "snail mail" to offer junk filtering.

I was caught speeding in 2004. July 4, 2004, in fact. I paid it right away. I did not wait, let it collect fees, or anything else.

I know for a couple bills, I would put it in the to-do bin, and then forget to follow up. But I know, with ADD, social phobia, and Asperger's Syndrome, never mind the unique stress involved in that job, I wouldn't be well qualified at all. What's his reason, and would it affect his ability to lead this state? If corporations look at one's credit report rather than job history to determine relevance, why can't we ask the same of our leaders, equally daft as it is?

It's like politicians prefer to be caught with their pants down in a public restroom than goofing up something so minor as a website bill a drivers license.

Forgive me, but I am highly skeptical Mr. Rybak was ignorant of the situation. It's possible, but having heard his reaction when confronted by the news (and how did they find out  ), he was probably wishing he was in the stall next to Larry Craig's, no doubt.

2. I've had the exact same thing happen
Of course, I was moving around so much in college that I think the letter probably couldn't find me.

3. loads of people have their license suspended and dont know about it....
Some do, some dont, the fact is that its not out of the realm of possibility. Get a parking ticket and let it go long enough and thats what happens. Its not like its a big problem, just pay your fine and get it reinstated.

4. But, apparently, his fine was not paid in full by mistake
I can see, as I am getting older, writing a check for, say, $147 instead of $174..

I don't think that it would cause the agency issuing the license to go broke to send at least a notice that one's license has been suspended..

6. There's tons of things that could have happened....
The point being it is just not a big deal. Now if you license is suspended because you have 14 DWI's, that is something else. Chances are it was for an unpaid parking ticket or something.

5. It happened to my son.
He didn't know his license had been suspended until he was stopped for expired tags. It had been suspended for failure to pay a couple of parking tickets. Because he was driving with a suspended license, he lost his license for one year. He had just moved out of our house after college and still had our address on his license, so I am positive he never received a notice about the suspension.
