New Katherine Kersten logic: Bullying is a family value
The bully is the scourge of the elementary school playground. So who could object to a new anti-bullying curriculum scheduled to be tested in three Minneapolis elementary schools -- Hale, Jefferson and Park View -- and adopted districtwide if successful?

But what if that curriculum is really a disguise for a very different agenda brought to Minneapolis by the Human Rights Campaign, a Washington, D.C.-based gay and transgender advocacy group? What if its lessons have little to do with bullying, and much to do with ensuring that kids as young as age 5 submit to HRC's orthodoxy on family structure, even if it differs from their own parents' view?

What if students who dissent are subjected to teacher-directed peer pressure and negative evaluations?

In other words, what if anti-bullying advocates themselves turn out to be the bullies?

http://www.startribune.com/local/18846129.html

In other words, don't teach kids not to bully those who are different from themselves, because they might not grow up the proper fear and hatred of GLBT people. :eyes:

1. The absolute "only" thing I use the Strib for....
Is the TMS crosswords. I love them, but I would never buy the paper. At work there is a recycle bin I rummage through to get it. I absolutely despise that woman. But I suppose every newspaper needs the pinhead portion of the population represented.

3. She is part of the reason I cancelled my subscription
Aside from being ignorant and hateful, much of her writing is regurgitated crap from other wingnuts.

6. And the reason I don't buy the Strib anymore keeps me from spending any more money on it yet again.
Every time they call to get me to re-up my subscription, I politely tell the person that until they fire that bigot, I will not give them a single penny.
How can this once-great newspaper think that pandering to bigots who think it's okay to harass, threaten, and even assault gays is okay?
What the hell has happened to my state?

7. The new owner likes it that way
They have already laid off most of the staff, there are rumors they are close to being insolvent. All to gut the paper for a quick buck and then run away with the profits.

10. I do the same thing.
When asked if I want to subscribe to the Strib.

My response is Sure, as soon as you fire Katherine Kersten.

16. same line I give them
I told them I wouldn't even consider buying that paper again as long as she was in it.

It's nice to cut back on how much I'm putting out for recycling, too.

17. The Strib may go the way of the Wisconsin Capital Times in Madison
Which is now online-only. The Strib is quickly becoming just a AP-story repeater.

8. Well, at least she's giving the Muslims a little break from her hate-a-thon
so she can take a little time to justify bullying gay kids.

What a disgusting waste of skin that woman is.

13. It also includes bullying kids whose parent(s) are gay
I wonder if it's okay to bully kids whose parents are self-righteous facist assholes like KK.

9. Michele Bachmann opposed MN anti-bullying legislation
When Bachmann was in the State Senate, she claimed that anti-bullying legislation would be "turning boys into girls."
