Michele Bachmann places more blame for financial crisis--this time on minorities and poor people

http://www.startribune.com/opinion/commentary/29771494.html

The recklessness of government is a primary culprit here. For years, Congress has been pushing banks to make risky, subprime loans. Using the authority of the Community Reinvestment Act, the big push for subprime mortgages began in earnest during the Clinton years. Banks that didn't play ball were subject to serious fines and lawsuits, and regulatory obstacles were placed in their way. While expanding access to the American Dream is a worthy goal, by blindly pursuing that goal and allowing the end to justify any means, we put millions of Americans at financial risk.

Of course, like everything else that comes out of Bachmann's mouth, this is total bullshit:

1. Translation:
The Democrats made the government force banks to give mortgages to shiftless minorities and welfare mothers who drive Cadillacs and buy steak and lobster with their food stamps.

Right, Michelle?

2. It is all the poor peoples' fault
Blame everyone down the chain instead of up the chain. This is not a new talking point, I believe Newsmax first ran it last week when the market first started to collapse. It was widely ridiculed on the web. I am not surprised to see Bachmann parroting it as fact. Remember the often used divide and conquer talking points from the GOP blaming "illegal immigrants" for the mass shipping of jobs overseas. This is quite disgusting but not unusual or unexpected.

:hi: to Jason Lewis' producers, plug us anytime

3. Meanwhile Bachmann's supporters call for shooting Barney Frank
from a comment on Bachmann's blog:

Yo John boy
Start your list with Slick Willy. This mess started way 'long time ago. Do some reading. Don't listen to the sound bites...

btw Barney Frank should be shot in sight. And this bill smells really bad.

4. That is another common talking point
It all seems to still be "Clinton's fault", that talking point has resurfaced online, probably also on the Faux News and talk radio circuit (memo is probably in Jason Lewis' hands right now). The Republicans can do no wrong to some people. :puke: What's next, blame Carter?
