Court Docs: GOP Donor Secretly Funneled $75k To Coleman Family

The CEO of a major marine technology company is alleging that he was pressured by a friend and associate of Norm Coleman to secretly funnel tens of thousands of dollars to the Senator's family.

Paul McKim, the founder and CEO of Deep Marine Technology, alleges in a civil suit that Nasser Kazeminy -- a longtime Republican donor, friend of Coleman, and DMT shareholder -- directed the company to send $75,000 to the Senator and his wife.

The transaction, which occurred in 2007, allegedly went as follows: DMT would make payments for services to Hays Company, even though no services would be rendered. Since Norm Coleman's wife Laurie worked at Hays, that money would be given to her in the form of 'salary.'

Requests for comment from McKim and the Coleman campaign went un-returned. But lawyers familiar with Senate ethics law say that if the complaint turns out to be true, Coleman could be in hot water, possibly facing a trial and potentially jail time.

2. This could move Normie from being one of the "top 4" most corrupt senators
to being number 1.

I'll bet the local media doesn't cover this until after the election unless the national news makes a deal of it. The locals have always covered for Norm.

3. You are probably right. I have been watching Star and Trib for latest breaking no word yet.
They had the investigative reporters at the campaign rally who tried to talk to him about it. Coleman is repugnant. We received a call tonight from Coleman camp. I cut the guy off saying I wouldn't think of voting for that ass and hung up. My husband and I both are registered democrats. I don't understand why they would call us. Polling must be looking rough for them to be doing that.

5. Highly unlikely to affect this election, I'm afraid.
No way will any legal action happen before Tuesday. Too late. Dammit.

9. The Strib is trying to suppress this story
This story led on KARE's 10:00 broadcast last night yet it was a small link on the Strib home page until this morning where it's not even on the home page anymore. Also, they are moderating the comments for this one. There are no new comments since last night? Please. I made a comment (I didn't swear -- I promise) but it hasn't shown up yet.

The Pioneer Press has no mention of it that I can find. So much for the print press.

10. The lawsuit has been reinstated
But don't look to the Strib or PPress for the story. As usual, Minnesota Independent has the scoop:
