Another reason not to get AIDS.
Why doesn't Pawlenty chop the program entirely and simply openly tell people with AIDS to "Fuck off and die!" already and be done with it?

The problem has been exacerbated by dramatic cutbacks in state health care programs over the last two years. As part of Gov. Tim Pawlenty's budget package to solve last year's $4.2 billion deficit, new fees and caps were introduced to the state's two primary health care programs for poor people, MinnesotaCare and General Assistance Medical Care. And things aren't likely to get better in the near future: Last week, Pawlenty planned to close a $63 million deficit in part by raiding $30 million in federal reserves from a fund set up to provide health care to low-income workers.

Owing to these changes, Minnesota AIDS Project estimates that between 125 and 175 people have switched from other public health care programs to ADAP to cover their medical needs. "It's because we slashed all of these other programs in terms of health care access for low-income people," says Bob Tracy, director of community affairs and education at Minnesota AIDS Project. "Now we have another program, was intended to provide short-term coverage, falling apart because people are being moved to ADAP as a source for ongoing health care. 'No New Taxes' governance means slashing health care programs for low-income Minnesotans."
"The Pawlenty administration that created the problem in the first place is now going to the planning council and saying, 'Unless you pony up and pitch in, you're the problem,'" says Tracy. Earlier this week the planning council sent a letter to the DHS asking that any additional changes to the drug program be put off for a year and requesting a meeting with commissioner Kevin Goodno.

Remember, Pawlenty voted to cut taxes for 5 straight years. That led directly to the $4 billion shortfall 2 years ago, and the $160 million shortfall this time. He did create the problem.

I dunno what to think anymore. These repukes seem to be doing as much as possible to hurt the poor, help the rich, destroy the middle class while shifting the tax base to it (which is insane but that is what is happening), and poising the economy for a "big bang" of an economic collapse.

The world is what we make of it. And I didn't know people truly wanted a cruel, callous world filled with monsters out for themselves. (that's a glib comment, reflecting on everything the repukes have done combined with the half of society that falls for the tripe therse creatures hand out. Personally, I like to help others and be compassionate... obviously that's a mental disorder in the New Order being engineered by PNAC.)

1. Frustrating.
And equally frustrating to me is thinking how far the 200 Billion plus we've spent in Iraq could have gone towards researching better treatments and cures for AIDS and cancer. I'm guessing it would have made an enormous difference. More people will die from these ilnesses than ever would have from Saddam's WMDs, epecially considering he didn't have any.

2. Bob Tracy is a fabulous guy.
My dh almost got a job with MAP, which is a wonderful organization. And Pawlenty, of course, is the devil incarnate; an evil pig who loves hurting people who are already suffering. Pawlenty is a true masochist. And I hate his guts.
