Do I Hear $3?
Our Mobil station here in Oakland is typically the most expensive in the area. I rarely see gas priced higher at any other station in the region.

Today premium is at $2.859. $3/gal can't be far off.

Can anybody beat this? I'll post a picture when we hit the magic $3 mark or $2.999.

3. In Canada we are paying between 3.75 and 4.00 per US gallon
and we're an oil exporting country. It's for real and it's here to stay.

4. It'll likely hit that high in many places in the country..
..and I'm talking about regular, not even premium. Once again, America's ignorance and inability to plan for the future is going to leave a desperate situation for the middle and lower classes.

6. No, I can't beat it...but it IS getting crazy...
...prices jumped up $0.06 from Thursday to Friday...and jumped again this morning. I have to admit I gasped when I saw the pump today...$2.499 for regular.

Predicting we'll see $3.00 before Labor Day, anyone?

7. Price of the American Dream
I think I'm beginning to see what may be the early stages of real discontent here in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I think $2.49/gal. may be the best price around. I might be $2.59. Haven't really scoped it out enough.

The high price of gasoline may actually do more to unseat the Republicans than anything the Democrats have done or could do. People are feeling the pinch, and they're looking for someone to blame. The consumption without conservation angle is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Had a conversation with a Korean friend, and he said that filling up in Korea had cost him $100. Gas is $7/gal. there. ($7/gal x 14 gallons = $98) A French friend said that gas prices were around $7/gal in France. (Strangely, monster SUVs aren't very popular abroad. Go figure!)

Read somewhere that the Chinese were going to have a HUGE number of cars on their roads by around 2010. They'll start bidding for more of that spot market oil.

9. Sadly the Dems won't be able to fix it either
and prices will continue to climb - who will get the blame then?

8. According the the
local service station here ($2.54 gal now was $2.29 3 days before) they were warned it would be $3. gal by the end of this week here. This is for regular unleaded and is a station that is always cheaper than anyone else around. They also said they were warned that it would probably be $4. gal by Labor day. Why do I say warned? I ask and they said they were told to make sure everyone paid before pumping, they didn't do that before, to have at least 3 people working and visible at all times and to ask for extra patrols from the Sheriff. The only thing they must not of been warned about was talking to their customers about what is coming.

10. Still cheap
Adjusted for inflation, gasoline is still significantly below the 1979-1980 highs. A gallon of gas is cheaper than a gallon of milk or bottled water, both somewhat renewable resources.

$3 a gallon should be no surprise and neither should $4. That's what we deserve for frittering away 25 years and being energy hogs.

Oakland, NJ is pushing hard at the $3.00 ceiling (which won't be one for very long).

It was $2.37 here a couple of days ago...Morris County...now it's $2.499.
